This is where you are wrong.
And being accused or suspected of cheating is not the same as getting caught. It's the same only in the court of public opinion.
So Floyd is justifiably stricken from the record books as ever having taken part in the Tour of 2006 because he was caught cheating.
This is how it should be, your convoluted sense of morality and sportsmanship notwithstanding.
Yes, there are insinuations and assumptions.Hombre El Asso said:Well he got caught cheating. No insinuations or assumptions. He got nailed.
I still wonder what that was about. You gotta figure whatever systems they use to transport and deliver the PEDs is prone to failure at least once in a while. Apparently someone dropped or lost some of his blood that year, or something like that.blackcat said:Leeepy Leepheimer had a non-boosted chrono in the first week.

Basso,
Ullrich,
anyone else who woulda been top 10? StrongArm retired. Leeepy Leepheimer had a non-boosted chrono in the first week.

Like he said, it depends on how you define "cheating".
If you define cheating as achieving an advantage over the other contenders unfairly, it's not clear that he did that.
If you define cheating as technically breaking the rules that everyone is supposed to follow, regardless of whether anyone actually follows them, yes, it's clear he did that.
"Cheating" is not necessarily like "speeding". That is, just because everyone else is driving 65 in a 55 does not mean your 65 in a 55 is not speeding.
But if you're technically breaking the rules by using, say a 14 pound bike instead of a regulation min 15 pound bike, it's not really cheating if everyone else is also using a 14 pound bike.
Having said that, if the technical rule is "no PEDs" but the understood rule by which everyone actually operates is "no PEDs that get detected by their pre-announced tests", then he still broke the actual operational rule, and, so it is cheating.
So, like he said, it does depend on how you define cheating.
Polish said:Hey, was Alberto banned from the 2006 Tour in addition to 2008?
BikeCentric said:Alberto wasn't banned, his team Astana was. Man you really are a complete dumb a$$.
Polish said:Alberto was also banned when he rode for ONCE-Eroski-Liberty Seguros-Würth in 2006. 2 tours he could not ride due to banned Teams
He might have been going for Tour Win #5 next year if not for the naughty teams. Well, assuming he would have been able to beat Floyd in 2006 and beat Carlos in 2008. Big "ifs" no doubt.
Hugh Januss said:Bigger if in '06, as he wouldn't have been the team leader then. That team probably deserved the ban, although the same argument could be made for most of the other teams that year, as I would be willing to bet that if all the Puerto names were ever known they would extend to most teams that started that year. 2008 would have been Contador's second Tour win, and probably first unquestioned one, what with the Chicken being plucked from the race lead and all.

Wasn't great in the first 2007 Chrono, either.
So, what happened on the penultimate stage, that made him fly
and earn him his dubious ITT rep?

Why are you so upset about? Do you hate that we talk against doping? Why would a rational person hate this unless approves of these practices or it is involve in the same game.SpeedWay said:Providing dissertation research material on the mentally ill that happen to frequent cycling boards and babble on endlessly about the villain that has stolen their life from them and left them hopelessly forlorn.
