I think the one that bothers me the most is that it is an advantage for an athlete to have a sociopathic personalty - the "type AA personality". That it might even be necessary to lack respect of other people in order to be a real champion.
The fans keep repeating this lie over and over to justify LA's behaviour. Normal rules don't apply to him, because he wouldn't be a winner if he had normal manners and empathy.
Then Contador and Schleck comes along and demonstrates that it is possible to be emotionally healthy and a champion at the same time.
CentralCaliBike said:Type AAs are not sociopathic:
Type A individuals can be described as impatient, time-conscious, concerned about their status, highly competitive, ambitious, business-like, aggressive, having difficulty relaxing; and are sometimes disliked by individuals with Type B personalities for the way that they're always rushing.[1] They are often high-achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about delays. Because of these characteristics, Type A individuals are often described as "stress junkies." Type B individuals, in contrast, are described as patient, relaxed, and easy-going, generally lacking any sense of urgency. Because of these characteristics, Type B individuals are often described as apathetic and disengaged. There is also a Type AB mixed profile for people who cannot be clearly categorized.

pmcg76 said:Miguel Indurain, just as successful as Lance but regarded as a super-nice guys. So nice and uncontroversial that he was considered bland and boring by the media but universally respected. You do not need to be a super-**** to be a super champion.

There was more about no blacklists, and anyone being able to ask questions. In addition, he promised, “We’re going to be completely transparent and open with the press. This is for the world to see.… And everybody was supportive. Bart—because he’s my best friend—looked at me like, Do you really want to do this? That was the extent of his skepticism. But everybody else was like, Let’s go!”
CentralCaliBike said:I think point may have been made a couple of posts up, but what did you think about Tiger Woods a month ago?
pmcg76 said:What did I think about Woods? Nothing more than he was the top golfer in the world who transcends his sport because of his story and success. I didnt know much about his private life, a celeb cheating on his wife, hardly grounbeaking news for me.
I dont think I have ever criticised Lance on his private life, not my business. My view of him is based soley on his cycling career and he has behaved very poorly many times in my eyes.
Woods is currently being crucified in the media because of his private life, I couldnt care less, yes his behaviour has been very bad but he will still be the top golfer, probably.

To me this is sport, not a personality competition.

Come on guys and gals it is time to move on to something more positive and for the future good.
You know who will win the big one. Contador.
All these accusations are drivel. Prove it and then I will give you all the time of day.
