Armstrong's financial situation

Page 12 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
The drug cheat has been spotted canoeing in the warm Pacific waters just off the holiday island, while he awaits the fallout to end from last’s month’s damning verdict that he ran 'the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen.'
In an attempt to avoid prying eyes, the disgraced Tour de France record breaker has also grown a full beard to try and disguise his all too familiar features.

On the run! Growing a beard is the first sign of shame!

Just read about 6 man canoes in which Armstrong was "hiding" in Hawaii.

The leader sits in the stern. Bow seat next most important. Novice sits at number 5 (Armstrong's seat).

Control freak Armstrong would be a fish out of water!

Stern Captain - leader in canoe, can see all paddlers, tunes performance of paddlers to work in harmony, initiates turns, facilitates team discussions and decisions, monitor paddlers mood, directs side to side trim, monitors leans

•Leadership skills, most experienced paddler, reading water, moving water, knows how to teach the people, calm and assertive.

•Uses more muscle groups than any other position due to steering activity

BBzzzzt! Wrong. Maybe you'll be one of the dozen or so people standing in line at a bike show for an autographed 8x10 while hundreds steer clear of the stain a decade from now?

Yep, you're just right about everything. Hard to argue with the mighty rhetorical BBzzzzt. Little bit of Skinner box and childhood mixed together I guess.

How are my activities relevant to the topic of this thread?

I particularly like the facetious photo description:

"Armstrong has been spotted carrying out one of his favorite pursuits - canoeing in a traditional six-man outrigger canoe."

Because if there is one thing Armstrong will always be associated with, it is with canoeing in a traditional six-man outrigger canoe.

Someone mentioned the editor of Weisel's book, which I guess relates to Armstrong's financial situation in a distant and fading sort of way i.e. Weisel does. I made a remark about the editor being symptomatic of the sort of enabling that allowed Weisel and Armstrong to flourish financially from the outset because he chose not to decline a job on principal. Most disagree with that stance. However, it's pretty simple.

It has been hard on poor Lance trying to find a sport not governed by the USADA / WADA drug policies.

It goes without saying that he was not required to provide a sample as he stepped out of the canoe....

Next book:

"It's Not About the Outrigger Canoe"

And the slogan from the Nike ad we'll now never see:

"What am I in? I'm in my 6-man outrigger canoe busting my *** 6 hours a day. What are you in?"

...and Sally Jenkins will be shadowing him the whole time, hiding behind Tiki torches, wearing Don Ho shirts and whispering into to her imaginary hand-held device.

Ol' Sally was used by Lance, perhaps knowingly, as a wild-west saloon prostitute.
