It's a wee bit dodgy to shut down a thread based on a personal view and the reasons you state. Moderate by all means but the thread did no actual harm other than offend the PC brigade whose sole aim seems to be stopping people enjoy themselves!!
Quite honestly, I don't think many of the ladies featured in those threads would particularly object to the pictures. You have forums which are specific to the discussion of cycling if that's all readers want to read them. I'll respect your decision when you shut everything not related to cycling otherwise this is a mistake!
That's not their sole aim. What people like this want is to control any environment they inhabit, based solely on their views of right and wrong, necessary or unnecessary, lewd or not lewd, moral or immoral. They will not concede that in a free society we have choices. No, they want to make it "illegal" to do things they disagree with(or they say others disagree with). Interestingly enough, many of these same people who put these rules/laws in place are guilty of breaking those very same rules/laws themselves. Which begs the question: Why did these boundaries ever need to be put in place, to begin with?
Was the thread hurting anybody? I'll help you here:
NO But the moderators unfortunately get a little carried away with themselves every now and then and take themselves way too seriously sometimes, and so this is the result: Censorship. There was absolutely no need to cut that thread off, But I'm not surprised.
BTW there was momentarily a "men's" thread up, but it died a quick quiet death of it's own. A thread that attracts almost 1 million views should just be left alone, and the moderators should have the guts to inform the complainers of their options, and offer that they lighten up, get over themselves, and move on to more thought provoking threads like, W riding a 29er, or the best movie of All time thread.
