Yep, very much doubt anything will come of this or that there would be anything incriminating in the hotel.

Meanwhile back at the secret base in a hollowed-out mountain...

So the Padun who's riding the Settimana ciclistica italiana is a clone?
I knew Bahrain was up to some sh*t but jeez that's too much.

Some of the posts here are hilarious. Colbrelli's power data is available to see, but most clearly haven't bothered to have a look or can't even start to understand what any of it means. He's riding hills in the 4.8 - 5.8 watt per kg range (depending on length) which you'd expect for a half decent pro.

The number he's putting out aren't 'destroying climbers' like you want to believe.

Meanwhile, Kenny Elissonde is doing 6 watts per kg up the second ascent of Ventoux for nearly an hour and can't catch the 75kg Van Aert who must have been averaging around 450 watts for that whole time to stay clear...

It's all good fun and games making jokes about who's doping and having a gossip. But if you're going to ignore the actual data we have, then all this is no more than baseless mud slinging.
My take is that the "actual data" is the most useless piece of the puzzle actually. I can take all the PEDs in the world and would still not nearly reach suspicious numbers. And the same is ofc true on a higher level. Lets take the "magical" number of 6 W/kg. Still you can have one rider achieving it clean, one not. How would you know. Sure, maybe you can establish some sort of natural limit. But I guess thats also a bit shaky. How would you do that?

Yeah, that's a good point and I guess like with the biopassport ideally the current ride data could be compared to historic bests of the rider in question and other riders as well, also factoring in age, injuries etc.

However given the claims people are making about him 'destroying climbers' and drawing suspicion from that, we can see that these claims at least are unfounded. 50 mins at 4.8 watts per kg at the end of a mountain stage, a climber he is not!

eheh, no Ellingworth anymore at Bahrain.
and yes, it would have been great to still have him there from a twitter/clinic point of view. imagine the finger pointing from the anti doping loons on twitter. Ellingworth! look there! the Brit at Bahrain! it's Sky's fault ;)
missed chance
Pay attention Pastronef: it was Eržen who brought Ellingworth into this. Climb down off that high horse before you fall off and make a fool of yourself.

good for Mohoric. i doubt Bahrain is doing anything the other teams aren't.

I'm sure they are doing things that at least many others don't. But I'm also sure that someone like Mohoric, who doesn't seem like a bad guy, tells himself exactly that: The others are doing it just the same, why are they only hunting us, we are being scapegoated...

really?

so bahrain is late to it even...?

u realize that they were a team with very few results who have now won 20 or so victories since May, many in the very top races, often with riders who have had little success before.

my concern is that whatever they are on, the other teams will now get on -- just like what happened with epo when one or two teams suddenly became super-dominant out of nowhere.

I presume you are aware you can calibrate your power meter in a way that reads higher or lower than your actual level. It is an interesting aspect that people who cheat in zwift have used and means that one cannot be confident that all uploads entirely accurate.

WvA has his own thread.

Colbrelli is having quite the memorable tour;
Belts the favourite off his bike early doors
Outclimbs a bunch of pure climbers on huge mountains whilst going for flat sprints
Goes on the attack in the press Lance style after a police doping raid

Guilty or not, keeping your head down and saying nothing Piti style is the smart approach, far less entertaining though.

I think to some degree Bahrain is now indeed scapegoated. Like they are still not winning "big". I agree ofc, and brought it up myself during the Giro, that they look very strong. In fact stronger than they ever did. But the big fishes with above the rest performances are still Jumbo and Pogacar on GC level, as well as DQS in their classics/sprinter specialisation. They actually do things that others can't.

I find it interesting though how those dynami s shift. Ineos has strong riders on paper but somehow lost their GC magic (I know that Bernal won the Giro) a bit. DSM was a bit like Bahrain last year and is now nowhere to be seen and Hirschi is only a shell of his former self (and that at his young age).

Anyway, that were some random thoughts so back to the topic: couldn't watch it live bit just watched Mohoric's celebration. Honestly in shock a bit, cause I totally didn't expect him to something like this. Must admit in the moment I even found it funny but its obviously not a good signal at all. Not for him, the team, nor the sport in general.
