I think another problem is that there's quite a fine line between what's trolling and what's harmless poking little fun at someone.

Sometimes there's a clear line: when someone in the F-W thread says "Valverde without superjuice is just mediocre" - that's trolling, or clinic material at best.
Most of the stuff in the Andy appreciation/depreciation threads to me seem mostly harmless and fun (to me at least), however most of it is brought on by the two main protagonists/antagonists, so should be very easy to deal with if judged by the mods to be disruptive for the forums

I agree with that.

If you have a complaint for a specific posting, please use the system to report it to the mods. We have often said that we do not read every posting in every thread.

When one of us finds time, we will go through the mentioned threads and take a look.

Meanwhile, DO NOT use this thread to continue bashing on one another.

Susan

Well i reported a post.

We do not see the need for the mods to be "neutral". We have always encouraged them to offer up their own opinnions. Neutrality when moderating is required, of course.

I do not post my opinion on matters -- not because I am a mod, but because I am an active journalist and must maintain my public objectivity. This does not apply to the other mods.

Glen wilson have my vote...plus thehog.

I think we should only vote for pre-banned members, they know the effect of the ban and will use it to gain revenge... I mean use it fairly :D

Hitch would also be great as a mod, if he was interested

Most def. But let's not burn him as a regular member.

I must add that I believe my personal style as a mod would also be refreshing and very good for this place.

Furthermore, I think Amsterhammer would be a superb mod. He's completely neutral, his style is elegant, he always stays calm and lucid and never loses his temper. +He has experience with moderating on other forums.

If only GJB123 would visit other parts of the forum than the clinic he would be my shot.

But at the end of the day, I really don't think we are the ones to pick. Surely the people behind this forum has enough feeling (and if not they really should get one) to who are mature, objective and self-contained enough to do the job.

hey Boomcie, don't you think this is quite an immature dig? C'mon...most of us are aware of what has gone on....

Please, mods, admins, whatever, do something to control it.

The lack of interference from the mods is quite worrying.

Fascinating, because if you look at the mods thread you'll find plenty of posts with people saying the exact opposite, that we're often too heavy handed. And you'll find an equal amount who, when we take action, say we took the wrong action.

I generally try to keep a hands-off approach unless it comes to spam, pornography, sock puppets, or flat out insults, and encourage people to both use the ignore feature, and learn how to treat posts you don't like as a waste of your time and move on with a positive tone. The best way to stop trolls and attention seekers is to ignore them. I would encourage all to take this same path with the Schleck-Contador food fight. This is as much your forum as it is anyone's, I am a volunteer here and can't be everywhere and check everything. It's as much up to you to stand up, rise above the nonsense, and keep things positive, than for me to brow beat those that can't.

If anyone can come up with someone you think would be a good mod, I think we'd be all ears.

Glenn__ W would probably rise to the occasion and lend a perspective from 'another side' :D

there are a lot of good folks around here although I hesitate to volunteer anyone as sometimes folks don't appreciate that either :p

...could open it to throwing hats into the ring-type offers

Glenn is not going to be a mod. I can't see Hitch doing it. I don't see him being interested, let alone having to change his style at all.

Feel free to keep suggesting people. Or anyone truly interested can contact the staff.
