omg if Ivan can do something special in the big mts this year it would make the tour really amazing.
..dare I hope?

GO IB!

we all can hope, even a 2010 giro basso might cause huge damage and get podium...to dream about a robobasso v2006 it's just nasty and forbidden:p that guy could stay with alberto and andy!

it is still too early to tell, looks like his form is getting better everyday

I don't think his form will even allow for a stage win. He's my biggest disappointment thus far. I think he should write this year off and plan for next year.

His Performance at the mur de bretagne was quite impressive considering that was not his type of climb, finishing in front of many guys who are more explosive than him.
Think he is gonna be in the battle for the Top 5 atleast, may be Podium.

i agree with the mention of muur de bretagne, he took time out of Shleck and Gesink on quite possibly the absolute worst climb for him, i think he will really come into it, maybe not until plateau de beille for me but i have him top 3 there

and 2006 Basso could drop anyone except a 1998 Pantani

Agreed. I'm hoping for a little element of surprise with Basso and possibly Horner shaking things up a bit in the mountains. Would love to see a group of 4-5 of the best climbers battling it out in the mountains rather than just AC and AS.

If he can bring any of the sustained accelerations in the mountains as he did in the 2010 giro he will have a good race and podium. that 2010 giro run was one of the most impressive things I have seen in years and the way he cracked Wiggans and Evans on Monte Zoncolan was pure nails. Hears hoping this TDF is shaping up like that Giro did for him. He is building each day as he did then anyway

agree, not even 2006 form, if he can have 2010 Zoncolan form he will be a strong contender for yellow jersey:D

I'm very unsure about basso. And as eventful as this first week has been, I don't think it can tell us anything about his form. I'm rooting for him, but for now I'm not very optimistic about his chances to podium. Hope he proves me wrong on the real, long climbs.

Hoping to see Basso grinding others off his wheel on Luz Ardiden. Predicting a small selection of Basso, AC, AS, Samu, and VDB on the final accent.
