 Somebody please make the bad national champion jerseys stop!!

That's really bad. Looks like the have just switched the black and white stripes for Norwegian flag and that's all.

And their Meintjes jersey from last year was really great:

There's definitely a two-headed problem with regards to all of these jerseys.

First, the sponsor wants its riders (especially its top riders such as nibali or boasson hagen) in its sponsors colors no matter what. Set aside the fact that the rider would get a ton of attention for having a massive flag as a jersey, and this attention would get extra attention to the team, and thus the sponsor.

But also, the national federations are really lax with regards to what the design looks like, with the notable exceptions such as belgium and the UK, and thus there's no real check on the power of the sponsors concerning the design.

Oh boy! Just when you think that you have seen it all.

Please tell me this is not for real because otherwise I have to vomit

If this isnt the fugliest national jersey in history of cycling, I'm not sure what else can even come close.

Here's a jersey question some posters might be able to help me with:

Roger de Vlaeminck used to wear the rainbow of a former world champion on his kit during road races:

Yet de Vlaeminck was never a road world champion: he was a cyclocross world champion in 1975, and was only the runner-up (to Hennie Kuiper) in the 1975 world road race. Google doesn't show any photos of him wearing the rainbow jersey on the road in 1975/6, only (correctly) of him wearing it for cyclocross...

...but I'm wondering if the UCi rules were different back then and world champions of any discipline were able to wear the rainbow stripes after their win. Obviously rules now are that you can only wear rainbow either as the reigning or former world champion in the discipline you won it in. A track sprint WC doesn't wear rainbow for a BMX race, etc.

Personally I wouldn't mind people doing what de Vlaeminck did. Off the top of my head, Stybar, Boom, Bos, Henderson, Wiggins, Swift, Thomas, Kennaugh, Cummings, Coquard, Meyer, Kung, Phinney, Hepburn, Dennis and Kiryenka would all have rainbow bands if that was the case.

Honest question I can't figure out the answer to: When was the last time the Portuguese road champion did the TdF before this year? Looking at the list of past winners it might even go back to Agostinho in the 70's.

EDIT: And that is how you do the jersey right. MTN isn't even the worst this year, I want to see the front. Sagan's though...What a total mess of colors.
