Majka finished 59 seconds from the winner. Apparently he punctured at the bottom of the climb just when the peloton sped up. He ended up spending lots of energy to chase the peloton up. Not bad for only loosing 59 seconds.

He hasen't understood that you don't have to spare anything on the last stage before a rest day. If he had attacked for real with 3k he had caught Visconti and would have won the stage, and bettered his position in the GC.

Majka tried a couple of times but every time Betancour was in his back wheel to battle for the white jersey, så he didn't go deeb. To me it was clear that Betancour had more in the tank than Majka, but he opted for the second best price of the day. Again

Don't agree, but we shall see when the MTT comes along. No place for tactical games there. The strongest rider will emerge.

Majka pretty much confirms your theory. Betancur went for the white jersey rather than co-operate and go for time and the stage. Majka is looking at GC placement and a stage win not white.

I disagree with you, but you are entitled to your opinion. I still don't understand how fans can read this from what they see on TV. I could make the argument that Betancur knows how hard are three weeks of rading and is dosifying his efforts. Besides he did not need much to unseat Majka. The option could have been to go deeper into the red zone (who knows) and having the risk of not recuperating during the rest day and loosing all during the third week.

As much as Majka is saying he isn't specifically aiming for the white jersey as much as he reacts to nearly every attack Betancur puts in. He is saying the one thing and doing the exact opposite.

Majka looked good today, had no problem to follow Nibali when Scarponi attacked.

This Bettancur attack had zero chance of going to the end, so Majka did not have to waste energy
