Could he not get a ride on a non US team?

The Toyota United, Versus, etc. was all post-racing career stuff. He was sensible enough to walk away from racing knowing full well he'd have to use PED's to life threatening levels to stay in the European peloton in that era. Note, that summary is what I got out of his publicized comments. I could be wrong.

Frankie did the online broadcast of the Giro for Universal sports. It was some of his best work. It was good to hear a Pro that did not talk down to the viewer like Phil and Paul do. Very good technical and tactical information. When Wonderboy came back to ride the Giro one phone call and Frankie was off the Giro broadcast.

With NBC/Comcast merger all cycling will be under Universal Sports, the channel Frankie was booted from......No surprise that Frankie was the only one let go from the Tour team.

One of the best things that will come from this mess will be exposing how aggressively they went out to smear people and ruin their lives for telling the truth

He did a pretty good jon on the Tour of Germany and Tour de Suisse as well...

He actually does a very nice job on commentary. Like a good color commentator on baseball, he doesn't talk just to talk. Fewer yet more insightful comments are a welcome change. Sometimes just watching the race without constant blather (a la P&P) makes for better viewing.

Lance & JB's 'black list' is pretty well known and documented (...zeig is about to ask for a source...).

Robbie Ventura, for example, frequently got the post-race interview with Disco.

During the comeback, though, Lance decided that only Frankie would be allowed to cover him.

Some sort of reverse double-black list thing that only Lance could explain.

As often as he gets fired he probably can't afford to get fat.

Andy, does it have to be entirely one or the other?

I assume you mean about Andreu finishing as a rider?
No, not at all. I just would not be surprised if even the European teams would be nervous of some sort of a backlash from the LA camp.

There are as many dopers on the European teams, I would suggest that most of them would not want someone who had exposed the truth about cycling on their team either. Omerta is not the singular province of USPS or Armstrong. So that is my best guess.

The politics of personal destruction. It's the ONLY reason Fabiani is involved.

From pg 90, Tour de Lance
Armstrong is a master at identifying and taking advantage of situations that produce dual or even multiple grains. For instance, he told Versus that he would only give live interviews to one of their commentators: Frankie Andreu.

A source who was there as Bruyneel and Armstrong discussed forcing the banished friend to perform the interviews says that Bruyneel advised against it but Armstrong laughed and said, “No, it’ll be great. It’ll be great.” Was it great because the relationship could start to be mended in this way, or was it great because Armstrong could demonstrate to his rivals that he had the power to make those that crossed him submit to his will? With Amrstong, the answer is probably both: each outcome is beneficial to him.

Pure genius.

Amazing that no one has brought up those arguments before.

1. Nichols wasn't in the room and his affidavit carries little to no merit. He does not refute the event, he can only state that he has no knowledge of the Armstrong statement.

2. The doctors asking him the question weren't taking his history. Armstrong had already been in the hospital quite some time and the official history had been taken at the time of his admission. The hospital is a teaching hospital, with med students in and out of rooms all day. If a teaching physician entered the room with a med student or intern in a teaching capacity, there would be no reason to enter the responses into the official records.

ROFL...now THAT is genius.

So, the interns at the "teaching hospital" (most are by the way), with white coats and blue scrubs just come into a room of people to ask Lance, "Did you take PEDs?"

Yeah, the story gets more and more unbelievable and reasonable doubt is more than enough.

Imagine you are just sitting in a conference room, watching a football game with people, (they all agree to that), then, some white coats/blue scrubs people walk in and just ask, hey, we want to ask Lance some questions. Betsy insists they should leave??? Yeah, ok. Then Lance says OK, you can stay. So they just come right out and say "Lance, did you do PEDs, any drugs?"

The white coats/blue scrub kids walk out of the room and say, OK. Don't write this down, don't document anything, just a random PED inquiry at the local "teaching hospital."

Don't be alarmed Betsy....this is just your normal post surgery, have you taken any drugs, PEDs or anything like that. It is important for your Lance's recovery. By the way, let's not write this down, and his primary doctor wouldn't ever read this in his file, because it is all just for charity, the kids and teaching purposes.

Man...that is just silly sounding isn't it??

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I guess you have to go with policy.

During the Floyd hearings, posting records on another forum were subpoenaed. The objectionable material here appeared to be very targeted.

Some of us may have been wondering what the future might hold given the decades long pattern of intimidation tactics.

Dave.
