What the hell? How do they get away with that?
I suspect that the mold for a recently superceded, mid-range Pinarello has gone walkabout from the factory.

They also do not claim that the frames are authentic in any way, Chinese laws are surprisingly relaxed re:counterfeiting (or "Copying" as they prefer to say)

Fake De Rosa

I thought there would be no problem with De Rosa's, as I had only heard of fake Pinarellos. Also the price was sufficiently high (1900) for an obsolete model frame (The rs took over a year ago) and from a UK seller. The seller also put on the advert, that the frame could be registered for warranty with de Rosa. Seemed a deal, but legit. NOPE ! Also it seemed legit when Cristiano asked for my frame to help him. I initally was pretty excited about helping him, but as time wears on (it's been 9 months now), I am getting pretty worried, I will never see either the fake, nor real de rosa, again. I really, really hope I am wrong.

If you are still in contact with Da Rosa you may want to direct them to this thread and the publicity it is generating for Da Rosa, but only if you think it will help you recover what is due to you.

The minimum i expect is Da Rosa to replace the frame as they have stated they would.

Still no word from De Rosa

Although he said he would get back to me 6 weeks ago, still no word about my frame. I asked him to ship back the frame I sent him if it was too expensive to replace it with a new one, as he orginally wrote he would do. But no answer on this as well. I am getting VERY concerned.

Italy is one of those countries that has a vague set of laws around their imports/exports. If it's designed and painted in Italy they can affix a "made in Italy" decal to the frame without any trouble. Same thing is going on with the world renowned Italian shoe and clothing makers which all pretty much used to be Italian made. Only way for these companies to make any bit of money is to export the labor, and try and save sometimes centuries of reputation with the "made in Italy" tag.

On the other hand take Switzerland. If it's made there it must say "made in ....., or Swiss made" on the product. That's a law there, a strict one at that.
Absolutely nothing to do with Italian law. It is EU law, which the Swiss are not covered by because they aren't in the EU!

I'm a little confused. Carbonframes on ebay are supposedly based in the US not the UK. In addition they have no history of any sort & no feedback. I call BS!

The outfit I purchased the frame from was UK based, but they were pulled from eBay, when I reported this problem.

Ha! Well can't say it was the speediest reply but all good thing take time to get done right, lets just hope they send it via Air not Boat :D

Now how are you to determine its a frame built in Italy and not one of the Chinese rebranded frames? ;)

I agree point Mr. De Rosa to this thread. If he doesn't deliver, point everyone to where they can get fake De Rosa's. There are a few sites. There are also fake Colnagos and Time frames now, Specialized Venge's, etc. Nobody is safe. The safest seems to be Giant who were always up front with where their frames came from.

I purposely bought a fake Pinarello Dogma 2. The new aero ones are the same in almost every way. Just a few small differences, more weight (1250 gram frame)being one of them. Unlike many of my counterparts though I have asked them to decal it differently from the Pinarello Dogma to CHINARELLO MAD-DOG. I don't feel bad in anyway. I'm not trying to deceive anyone. And am a proud owner of what I feel is an awesome looking bike asian frame. Would never have bought a real one so they aren't losing any money from me. I encouraged the company to sell them as the now well known Chinarello's and they'd probably sell just as many if not more.

After more than half a year of waiting and almost non-existent communication over this time and you're calling them "the best". Wow, our standards must be entirely different... :D;)

Is it a new frame or just the old frame repaired and repainted!
