The sport is never going to change as long as people like Riis are still allowed to run teams. Only went to him when he was a neo pro and only for training advice.. yeah right

Same as Armstrong, Evans and all the others.

Who claims they have proof? You made that up.

Your opinion is as worthy as anyone else's - however I see no reason for Hamilton to say BR was the one to put him on touch with Fuentes.

So, he knows there is doping going on in his team, and yet you think he would not be able to get the contact details of the Doctor to some of his teams biggest names? That would make Bjarne stupid, which I agree he isn't.

And to the highlighted, Bjarne being a doper is no more different than other dopers, but being a team manager who is involved in doping certainly makes him different from most dopers.
But does it make him different from most team managers? That is the real question.

Vino is now Team Manager at Astana.

I did mention JV, first.

Looks like a three months ban and some more dirt being moved under the carpet.

As long as Phat and Hein sits at the top, guys such as Riis can do what they want.

Why should he be banned?

It wasn't until last autumn that Ferrari was banned for non-Italians.

And all Ferrari gives you is orange juice, so hey, what's the problem?:p

But otherwise you have point, he probably don't get banned. Frank Schleck did not get a ban for making a payment to Fuentes. And if Kreuziger did not violate any rule, by working with Ferrari. Well..

Yes. For Italian athletes. It was USADA who banned him world-wide.

I guess when Ferarri got banned for Italian athletes it would also stretch to Italian teams.

How can USADA ban anything worldwide? I thought that was the point of the US part of their name...?

Don't get me wrong, very happy that they were able to flex their muscles heavily in the Armstrong shamozzle, but I find it interesting that a US authority would be able to stop non-US citizens working with an Italian citizen in a country that is not the US.

Also don't get me wrong - I'm not defending anyone here - just wondering how USADA would be able to do that and make it stick...

They can issue a world wide ban and if it is challenged it gets taken to CAS. See Valverde. CONI (Italy) banned him for 2 years and he fought it at CAS and lost.

Thanks for clarifying, Benotti.

Seemed curious, but makes sense in that way.

Any idea if Ferrari challenged the USADA issued world-wide ban to CAS? Also, would a Doctor be able to challenge to CAS? Athletes, obviously yes, but a Doctor? I suppose if there's a ban issued, you must be able to appeal it, so I guess he would be able to... Dunno...

Also, are sports doctors/private coaches signatories to any anti-doping code? I would assume not. In which case, what rules has HE broken if he hasn't agreed to abide by any? Obviously he needs to stay within whatever relevant countries LAW, but sporting rules?

Not saying in the slightest that he should have anything to do with the sport, and obviously if you're dumb enough to go anywhere near him, then you are tarnished and, in my mind, guilty until proven innocent. However, these sort of issues appear to be why doping doctors just keep getting away with it all.

Sorry for all the questions on this, and if mods think this belongs in a different thread, or it's already been answered in a different thread, then feel free to delete.

Riis speaks for the first time, in a while.. And what do he say? Nothing really..

He have now made up a excuse about that there because of the investigation based on the Chickens confession, Riis can not say anything, about any doping allegations.. http://www.sporten.dk/cykling/se-alle-hans-svar-det-sagde-bjarne-riis
For example both Hamilton and Jaksche told about doping in CSC before the Chickens confession, but whatever:)

Asked if he have told about Riis to the authorities, the chicken just say that there was doping when he was at CSC: http://sporten.tv2.dk/tour/2013-07-01-michael-rasmussen-bjarne-riis-er-tydeligt-presset

Screams volumes that he didn't turn up to the TdF till today.

Mr Omerta.

There were speculations that he was dealing with important business but he revealed that he had been on a cycling holiday with his family and that this ordeal (let's call it No Comment-gate) had taken a lot out of him.
