la.margna said:BMC should have better spent half of the money the paid for Gilbert and Hushovd to hire MickRo and RichiePo. But they didn't. Sometimes, less is more. And now these twor riders won't be available at that discount rates anymore
El Pistolero said:Lol, Sky fans out of wack again I see. Wait till Thursday before cheering Boonen will not be there ok![]()
johnnycash said:Why would I cheer? We've been robbed of one showdown between Cancellara and Boonen already, why would any fan not want to see the best classics rider in the world at the olympics?
Are you actually a fan of cycling?
johnnycash said:Somethings worng with the set up of this team, you simply cannot put that much talent together and deliver as little as they have done without some serious problems. Saying that Hushovd and Cadel are, I think, past it.
Gilbert though, no-one could that coming. Team Sky UK won't give him a chance in London, only Boonen could stop them and he seems like he won't be there.
movingtarget said:Be interesting to see if Gilbert can dominate again in next year's Ardenne classics.
JA.Tri said:Past their best? Maybe.
Past it.... on what basis!? Thor has been battling illness and Cadel has still won CI, podiumed Dauphine (while not a stand alone, still not to be sneezed at) and is still top 4 in the premiere GT...hardly past it.
movingtarget said:Well one of the oldest Tour winners will be 36 next year. Still a great rider but hard to see him winning the Tour next year even though he had a great year last year. Like Wiggins this year, having an almost perfect season will be hard to repeat. Just ask Gilbert. I have a feeling that Evans will retire at the end of next season but he loves to compete so who knows ?

I agree. To be a Giro, Tour and World Champion amongst his other victories is something that not many riders can claim to have done even over the history of cycling. I doubt there would be that many who have won all three of those 3 events.Yingge said:I would like to see Cadel have another tilt at the Giro before he retires.

movingtarget said:Unless they buy a better rider which is doubtful it will be him. They believe in his talent. Nibali may end up at Astana as Kreuziger still struggles to make the podium of grand tours, don't think the Italian teams can afford Nibali. Not sure where else he could ago apart from BMC and they are already paying for Evans, Hushovd and Gilbert.
Marcuccio said:Yeah I think it'll be a few years before BMC are ready to splash the cash in the same amounts they did in the past 12 months.
I almost got the impression Rihs spent up big on TH, PG etc as a gift to Cadel for winning him the TdF, and partly as a "we've got money" gesture to the other well to do teams on the tour . So far it's paid fk all dividends tho!
Yeah, to paraphrase he said that similar incidences have happened to him before in Spain therefore he is more reluctant to race in Spain. He said that he is sorry to his fans in Spain and the majority of Spanish cycling fans. I don't think he thought they were directly for him because there were that many of them and according to L'Equipe this morning, the tacks were are pre-meditated sabotage and were placed all over the Peguere.Anyone catch what he said about the tacks issue and 'racing in spain'? Seems like he thought they were directly for him. Wider if that rules him out of another Spanish tour?
