The bigger question is surely what was it that was wrong with him in 2011

Now if they really were TUE requests for 2 injections so close together and the medication is only being used in the absolute benefit of the health of the athlete the doctor on the prescription or the team management should be up in front of some sort of tribunal

For him to be THAT ill that he needed the two injections and for the team to still allow him to ride and for the doctor to allow him to ride would be crazy.
No one involved in that decision could claim the two things can sit side by side

You are an elite athlete and you need a VERY severe medicine to treat what must have been a VERY severe respiratory ailment
But hey go race the tour it will be fine for you after your lungs have just been almost destroyed by that ridiculous breathing issue you just had.

Those two statements do not add up

Hey mr elite cyclist your fat you need to lose some weight if you want to win
Take this it will help shred weight and increase power, we will get a TUE for it signed off by the dodgy doctor on the payroll

Now those two sentences can make a lot more sense.

The dates in Franklins post are wrong - the 26 June TUE was 2012 not 2011, a typo I assume.

Alistair Brownlee had a TUE for Diamox, a diuretic...

A common application of diuretics is for the purposes of invalidating drug tests.Diuretics increase the urine volume and dilute doping agents and their metabolites. Another use is to rapidly lose weight to meet a weight category in sports like boxing and wrestling.

Weight loss without power loss would be useful in a sport such as the triathalon.

The verbiage included in his TUE sounds like it was backdated?

Used as a treatment for altitude sickness when he took his end of season break climbing Kilimanjaro apparently.

So it's 19 days of silence from Cookson. Ditto from Nicole 'Travis' Sapstead. Even Fotheringham doesn't believe Wiggins and Brailsford's pitiful account. For a 'grey area' one can only quote Nigel Tufnell, that this grey area is 'none more black'.
The whole world knows he's cheated. But in the abscence of a British Tygart where does one go from here? Can they just expect to brazen this out and make the odd whining comment about criminal hackers and breaches of confidentiality?
I want to see Wiggins stripped of his TdF title and Knighthood. Same (even more so) for Brailsford.Maybe that would finally put enough fear in the hearts of the peleton to stamp this *** out once and for all.

Unfortunately brazening is exactly what is going to happen and there is sweet f a anyone can do about it.

Remember it took LA's team mates being threatened with jail if they didn't tell a Grand Jury everything before they squealed. Most of the ex Sky riders are on other teams now and there is no such motivation in the UK to rock the boat so they are unlikely to spit in the soup to a 'sympathetic ' journo or UK anti doping and jeopardise their ongoing careers.

So the Omerta is good and strong still and will remain so.

Until the 'chemistry experiment' is removed from cycling 100% that grey area between pasta & energy drinks on the one hand blood doping on the other will always exist. Whats pretty sad is its clear that Team Sky is, and has been operating right at the top of that 'grey area' and consistently going over it.

Protest/placard outside the Team Sky bus at every UK race from now on? As far as I am aware that's not against the law in the UK!!

But this isn't EPO and HgHwe're talking about, it's a flagrant abuse of the TUE system and the WADA rules in TUE's (someone posted the rules on another thread). If Sapstead doesn't act on this she should be sacked too! There's absolutely no need for the Tygart style threat of grand juries etc. The evidence is all there already. The whole world knows about it. They gave Wiggins and Brailsford the chance to explain themselves. And they came up massively, staggeringly short.

I was very relieved by Alistair Brownlee's exoneration by the way, it would have been mortifying for him to bring shame on the fell-running community!

He's a triathlete so he brings shame on any community he is involved with. ;)

You would have to be upset for the Kiwi Rower King Boonen and the breach of his medical records. Everyone now knows he had

hemorrhoids

I'm upset for everyone, regardless of the condition that has required the TUE.

Actually the Rower has actually stated that even though it was illegal what the Russians did that it is fair enough to disclose his TUE's and have everything out in the open. So he disagrees with you.

I really couldn't care less if he disagrees with me or not, he's fully entitled to his opinion. This is off-topic so that'll be the last I say on it.

"Milk is key for me and was important throughout the Olympic process. I have a pint after training and another before bed. I've performed better on my bike as a result and I feel better in myself as well and I honestly never thought I would."
There you go, it's all down to milk. Mods, you can now close this thread! :D
Yep, that is truly the answer, drinking some mucus forming cow puss to keep our lungs clear for high performance. Why do these athletes continue to try to fill us up with so much ***.

What had happen to all the British riders at this year UCI World championship...not a single medal to Britain so far.. maybe they all left the dope at home..afraid of all the scrutiny going on. Maybe Mr. Crookson have an answer?

Which begs the question "who?". All this time following and this is the first time I hear mention of the CEO of British Cycling's name.
