Nice Tour by both of them! And a superb result! Didn't expect Adam to hold on such a good performance!
no, he really impressed, also did a few hard pulls for Pogi.
Maybe being a dom helped him push himself quite a bit where he needed it, or maybe it was just the relief of mental stress.

AdamE was caught on the wrong side of several splits though, so I think he saved quite a bit of energy(not least the mental kind) hanging out in the back. Something you cannot afford as the outright leader.

It was honestly quite disappointing that Ineos didn’t drive the group whenever one of the brothers napped and was caught behind a split.
Yeah, they actually have the team for it, maybe Kwiato and Castro took a nap as well?

Some stages people were screaming for Bora to do it, but with only 1 Politt not much they can do really.

ONly thing is that it ruins chances for the break and they had some decent stage hunters in the team.

Serious question, could Adam Yates have beaten Pogacar at this year’s TdF?

He finished 3:27 behind Pogacar after doing a fair amount of domestique work and not having the team strategy revolve around him. Granted, if Jumbo’s strategy revolved around him that also could’ve hurt.

There were many stages were Pogacar and Vingegaard slowed down. The time gap does not entirely show the actual gap in ability.

There are situations where he could have beaten him. But you have to add more tactical miracles such as Yates making the Hindley Marie Blanque break or Jumbo shutting down after the Tourmalet and waiting for the peloton

what a fantastic season this Adam Yates is having? 5 wins + a few days in the yellow jersey. and then also a podium in the Tour. 5 wins at UWT level. the best season of his career! this year should definitely not be inferior to Almeida and Ayuso, I expected Yates to be 4th in the ranking for classification. but this Yates is in 2nd place this year. he would drive a few more Italian classics. Provided there are no Roglic, Vingegaard or Evenepoel, he could just go for a 1 and 2 together with Pogacar?

Yes, if he is going to help Pogacar, Lombardia is a sure deal for UAE.
I would like to see if he is going to the Giro next year or a superpeak like this year for the Tour. UAE will be very strong in the mountains and Yates can be a protected rider because like you said I think the level he showed in the Tour is not inferior at all to what Almeida or Ayuso showed in the Giro or Vuelta.

After his top 10 in Tour down Under, Simon Yates is currently racing Ayula tour to get some early season sharpness in the legs.

After these races, this is his schedule until July:

Altitude camp
-Strade Bianche (to prep gravel in le tour)
-Tirreno Adriatico (would rather do Paris Nice, because he didn't win it yet, but no time to transfer after Strade Bianche)
-Itzulia Basque Tour
-Amstel
-Fleche
-Liege
Altitude camp
-Tour de France

Just as in 2023, he won't race between end of April and the start of the tour, because he said in previous seasons he was stronger in prep races than his main targets.

Source is the interview below. He said also how much of an advantage it is to be on a super team like Jumbo visma or UAE in a grand tour with regards to staff budgets, but he enjoy the leadership and freedom at Jayco. Apparently a bigger team never made him an offer.
