Dazed and Confused said:He will continue to fight, but Nibali is on a different level entirely imo.
Puffy cheeks is coming from behind however, hell I think Betancur can still hurt Evans.
taiwan said:Got to say this is an ambitious season for Evans. He's looking at a Giro podium and he's planning to contest the Tour also, right?
all_in said:Yeah.Top 3 at Giro and top 5 at TdF and Evans season will turn into a good one. Also he can win Maglia Rossa at Giro.
Contadoraus Schlecks said:I can see him getting on the Giro podium but top 5 in the Tour IMHO looks out of reach. Too many other fresh riders with a better chance i.e. Froome, AC, Wiggins, Porte, Purito, Van garderen, Pinot, Quintana, Valverde
taiwan said:If he does go for the Tour, the only comparable season I can see of his is 2010. Wasn't in the running in the Tour that year, but he'd had a big Classics season and was talking in a different way about the Giro beforehand, IIRC. I'll be interested to see how this progresses.
delbified said:good point - he finished only 26th in the 2010 Tour and as i recall was making excuses too - something about a broken arm?
Evans was clearly unprepared to challenge for GC at this year's Giro, having turned up at the last minute, but is within striking distance of Nibali, who is having a stellar season.
why do you people consistently undersell Cuddles? he is a weapon. i say Froome and friends should be worried about him in July.
BroDeal said:Evans will be cooked after this Giro. TJ will lead BMC in July.

and why would that have been? don't answer that /threadPotomac said:because he spent far too many years wheel sucking.
Ferminal said:Why even do the Tour? Vuelta/Worlds would be far better.
Ripper said:He might. Then again, did you check out almost everyone else? The march of death going on out there.
The Giro is epic!

I guess if you race in July you get to have 6 months off.
PCutter said:No offence to TJ, but he's only just won his first stage race and it was against a bunch of domestic riders and two Aussies returning from surgery.
His 5th place last year at the tour was significantly helped by the 100km of TT in the race, I would think he needs to win more than a second rate ToC to justify tour leadership, even if Cadel does have a Giro in the bag. Backing Cadel the team has a chance of a tour podium, backing TJ you are a very expensive team riding for 5th place. Cadel may aim for a podium an miss, TJ can't even aim for it.
