I was not debating doping, I was merely separating riders based on if they had been sanctioned or not.

Umm that is still doping discussion:rolleyes:

Edit: and i see you are still bringing it up implicitly in your next post.

I have read, that Cadel has amazing test values, such as VO2 Max. I don't have the source right now, but I know this is no secret on these boards. If this would turn out to be false, I will have to reevaluate my stance on him, but as of now, I believe his is very talented.

all top riders are very talented.

Well...Some more than others in my opinion.

Obviously, yes. But that's not the point. You mysteriously feel that evans, while not clean, is somehow "cleaner" than di luca et al. when I ask how you reach this conclusion, you respond that he is very talented. My stance is that they're all very talented, and equally "clean", and hopefully the best man wins.

Which coach was it that said that the numbers Contador put out in some test when he was a pup were the most amazing he ever saw.

Cunego: 1 Giro, 3 Lombardia, 1 Amstel Gold, 3 Giro Trentino...
Cunego may have a better palmares than Evans (by your "only wins count" method anyway).

I said that Savoldeli does not.

The next to mention dope, dirty or clean will get banned.

I apologize, i should have realized this thread was not in the clinic, but it really doesn't make sense to delete only my last post. delete the entire conversation, or move it, or let it stand.

The bet is whether or not Evans will make the top-10 of this year's Tour.

I don't think he'll top-10.

Do you?
I said it in my post. I don't know what to expect. Gut feeling tells me he'll DNS or DNF. ACF should take this bet, pas moi.

Great Ride by Cadel over three weeks finishing on Podium (hopefully).

Fantastic effort.

Smashed a lot of the other Podium Favourites!

Look forward to the Tour

Great ride by Nibali, clearly the best rider in the Giro and well deserved winner.

Cadel deserves a lot of credit for his ride, couldn't quite pull off the full three weeks but still, didn't expect him to make the podium, in fact I wasn't sure he'd finish so he did real well and showed his still got a lot of racing left in those legs.

You know what the problem was with his bike? All I can find is rather vague and I did not notice anything in particular during the stage.

It looked to me like he was pushing a bigger gear, but then he always looks that way. He stood up for most of the climb, but then he does a lot of that too.

Without the bad weather Ryder, Wiggins and Gesink would probably still be in the race.

Only a threat to Evans position if Evans was 25th. As it is he's 3rd. Now despite Gesink's vast history of podiuming GTs.. oh wait.

I really respect Evans a lot- Great ride & overall result- but please don't use the "gear fault" this time around... I remember back in 10 during the Zoncolan, it was the same thing with the "gears".....

Screwed by DI2.

Nibali decided cables were the safer option.

The photo of his rear mech looks as though the cassette was covered in snow and ice. The chain was on the third biggest cog so perhaps he was unable to shift down from there.

Just as well team management prevented the media from recording another finishing line dummy spit. Instead he was whisked away in a team car and put up an "aw shucks" post on his blog a few hours later.

Great ride from Cadel. But he will die in the third week of the Tour. You can see it happening here. It always has happened with Cadel in the third week of GTs except the year he won the Tour. I don't see him being hitting that form this year in July. I've written him off before and been proven wrong. I'll be hoping he does something but I think top ten would be an amazing result at the Tour for him.

2 Giros > 1 TdF

So Gotti, Simoni, Savoldelli > Evans

First is the only thing that counts in bike racing.

Trolling?

Would you rate those three riders above Sastre and Andy Schleck also as grand tour performers? Surely consistency, plus level of competition faced also counts. For a long time the Giro was largely a national race. It is only relatively recently that it seems to have become more international like the Tour.

Yes I know that many non Italian superstars previously won it, but generally speaking you would have 80% of the top riders be Italian. The level of performance that Evans raced at in the '07 and '08 Tours has to exceed that reached by Simoni and Savoldelli in their Giro wins.

Or are you one of those people who would say that Henry Rono doesn't rate as a runner because he never won an Olympic gold medal?

As for Cadel, chapaeu on your 2013 Giro podium; eleven years after coming so close. That's pretty epic longevity. Does that count for anything either?

Good post Ulle, a man who knows what he is talking about.

Evans used to fade during the last week when he was younger. Now at his current age and with a hard Giro in his legs, it is hard not to predict a third week slump at the Tour.

TJ will finish higher.

Definitely.

Really! Abandy Schleck vs. Gibo?

Nope. Unless your name is Poulidor, winning is everything.

I heard he had to get out of there fast because his dog was cold.

True. There was no way he would have made up on Uran even gears were ok. He just didn't have the power. Considering that he was not in great shape prior to the Giro, this is a wonderful result. So enjoy the podium Evans:)
