I was annoyed to know that Cadel Evans couldn't get on the back page of our main news paper and a drunk footballer gets it instead. Evans has just won a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, an australian first. Who cares about a drunk footballer as it happened 1 week before evans won.

Yeh true. Fev story blown out of proportion as well..

The aussie media just don't get it. I remember Quartermain saying on the news after stage 3 of the TDF something along the lines of "Cadel Evans tour chances took a damaging shock as lance armstrongs team broke away in windy conditions" (not a direct quote, but something like that).. It was stage 3 hahaa, they just don't follow it or understand cycling. They read the teleprompter and that's it.

Silence-Lotto, their parent company Omega Pharma and 2009 World Champion Cadel Evans will hold a press conference tomorrow in the “Davitamon” room at Omega Pharma corporate headquarters. The invitation promises that there will be “surprises”, one of which is expected to be a new name for the Belgian team for 2010.

There were also reports today that Evans will race in the Tour Down Under in 2010, He has not raced in the increasingly important season opener since 2006. Australia’s Allan Davis is the defending champion.

With the new team name, their is pic on CE's twitter which shows the room where the press conference is. Cadels world jersey is their but from a long distance it doesn't look like it says Silence. it looks like a different font which suggests silence is out. Lotto is still there though. here is the pic:

Omega Pharma Board room pic

Make your mind up...

UPDATE:It's going to be called OmegaPharma Lotto next year

The Australian Cadel Evans (32) was today in Nazareth by his Silence-Lotto team honored for his world title last weekend. Just before the start of the press conference they played the images of the World off again on a big screen. Cadel Evans got back the tears in the eyes when he saw himself on the final stage bulbs. Strikingly, the Austaliër was no real victory gesture. "I was steeped in the last kilometer of the emotions. Then I walked all over again. The trouble that I knew through my career, even during the World Championships. Therefore I do not even victory gesture could make," said Cadel Evans.

"16 years in title hunt"
"After 16 years in that title game Sunday I finally did it. In my country there is not awakened by my title. There is not such a great cycling culture there and in Belgium, but it is making an overtaking maneuver. During the Tour Down Under in 2010 I would like my shirt every home showing. I want that sweater in promotion for the sport. That it is not evident that a specialist about that rainbow jersey wegkaapt? That is so indeed. Several times that honor is reserved for riders who focus on games of one days. "

"Sweater tones Tour"
"I want my sweater all too happy to demonstrate in such a climb of the Tour de France. This is the last years not much happened. That my bike that I won the World Cup still looking? He is at my house. I cherish that thing go. He gets a very special place in my collection. How many times I re-watched the pictures already? To be honest I have several times. And normally I will never see pictures of myself. The first time I they saw at home with my wife Chiara we were both in tears. "

"Actually, Gerrans was the team leader
"Whether I will cope with the pressure of the rainbow jersey?" Evans looked ahead. "I take that very happy with. It was not easy to constantly deal with bad luck and setbacks. The title makes me sound so well. I had that world also been underlined in red, next to the Tour de France and the Vuelta. I was there from the Australian team not the most protected rider. That honor fell to Simon Gerrans turn. "

Tour of Lombardy
"Actually, what stuck me, but it was just so. In the Coppa Sabatini on October 8 will be the first time I show off my beautiful rainbow shirt. I'm looking forward to it. Followed me for the Tour, Giro dell'Emilia, the Round of the Tour of Lombardy and Piedmont. Question is how much energy is left in the legs after sitting this long and grueling season, "concluded Evans.

"First major victory in five years"
Director of Omega Pharma, Marc Coucke, but as proud as he was the brand new world champion Cadel Evans could announce his press conference. "In the five years that, together with the National Lottery, we sponsor a talented young riders get to know to bring a higher level," Coucke began. "But in those five years we have never omzeggens a great victory achieved. We were the champions of the podium places. We have continued to invest in our team."

"He is a phenomenon"
"Now after five years we reap the benefits. And finally we have the main bird shot by Cadel Evans in the world to have within our ranks. I was happy in his place when he first across the finish line bulged in Mendrisio. Cadel is a phenomenon and a perfectionist in his profession. His whole career was punctuated with setbacks, but now it's finally succeeded. "

Tintin Album
Marc Coucke Cadel Evans presented an original album of Tintin "L'Oreille Cassee. The world champion, an avid collector of items from the Belgian reporter Tintin, was thrilled with this gift. He prompted Marc Coucke at one point even to settle into care when he flipped the book

Exactly the same time you posted my translation came up:). you know that post about the voting of the leader for the aussie squad. Unfortunately it may be true but why would the aussies do that anyway.

yeh i was hoping that 'vote for the leader' story was untrue. It's just a dumb strategy, especially in such an unpredictable race. Still, Evans was pretty good to praise his teammates after the win, even after he was (potentially) outvoted 8-1 and they were really working for gerrans. Makes the win bitter sweet really. Great win, but if the team didn't believe in him it is a shame.

Tallking about team support and teams victories, i did a little research about tdf stage wins with the current squad of riders on each of the separate teams who were invited to the tour this year. My source was Ride media's tdf guide.

1st Astana* - 34 stages
2nd Columbia - 17 stages
Katusha - 17 stages
3rd Saxo Bank -15 stages
4th Cervelo -11 stages
5th Caisse D epargne - 8 stages
Rabobank - 8 stages
6th Quickstep - 7 stages
7th Garmin - 4 stages
8th Agritubel - 3 stages
Bouygeus - 3 stages
Cofidis - 3 stages
Liquigas - 3 stages
9th Milram - 2 stages
10th Lotto - 1 stage
FDJ - 1 stage
Euskatel - 1 stage
AG2R - 1 stage
11th Lampre - 0 stages
Skil - 0 stages
*The stage victory stat might be a little out with TTT victories*

I put this stat in to show that teams who have had stage victotries usually win a jersey by the end of the tour even though the victory might of not been on that team. Astana has Armstrong and Contador who have both won Tour de France's and have team members around them who have won stages. Columbia have Cavendish but have other winners in their team who help him out. Saco and Cervelo have multiple tdf stage winners and they have held and won yellow jersies and have had riders who have taken home the green and white jersies. Look at Lotto , they have 1 stage win (from their current squad) from evans. Yes evans has done well by himself but he doesn't have the right support by his team mates who aren't really winners in their own right. With their victory tally overall at Lotto, the most wins was 34 by evans. That is a team who doesn't have a winning environment but they do have quality riders. Phillipe Gilbert has only had 4 victories this season, which isn't bad but a guy of his calibre, that is a quiet season and i think even Phillipe would have wanted more wins. Does anyone see my point?

just to let you know he has alread announced that.

And what is your point ausycyclefan94?

You created a thread with a poll, and when timmy-loves-rabo ventures an opinion you ask them what is his point.

I thought the idea of the thread is to discuss and vote where you think Cadel is headed.

Untwist the knicks mate.;)

So, i was just saying it was already anounced and a well known fact that he was not going. That was stating the obvious.
