Can Sagan win the 2012 TdF points Jersey?

It should make it a more exciting race, but there are too many flat stages... Cav will most likely win, barring a crash. Gossy is the second fastest on the flat, and Kittel will be up there. Don't forget Farrar or Griepel; they most likely won't win any stages, but are sure to be in the top 10 plenty. I see Sagan being the best climber of the sprinters, but breakaways usually win the stages that would eliminate Goss.

Hopefully it becomes apparent that Nibali is not in great form/out of contention relatively early on so Liquigas is able to devote all their resources to Sagan's challenge. If they can control the harder stages and get Sagan to the finish in the lead group more often than not, he could have a better chance...

Sagan can climb better than Cav. So he'll be up front more often than Cav. He's also more consistent than the likes of Goss and Boonen. He might not beat Cav in a head-to-head drag race, but he has a chance to win the green if he's constantly in the top 5. He has a good chance.

Liquigas Nibali may tackle KOM'(Too many ITT km), ' cause Yellow belongs to Wiggo'; Having said that, Manx'man will have a hard time w/o HTC's full squad at his disposal: Renkshaw, El*Gran*Capitán*, Gossy, Rasmussen, Martin......Not that SKY hasn't proven beyond any reasonalble doubt capable of doing it, but to seek two objectives is quite hard. If not impossible. Rather, both him and Boasson-Hagen shall try some stage wins if possible. Questions? Confessions?

I don't think intermediates will play too big a part, breaks will mostly swallow them, and if Sagan is still there, it's likely Cav will be too. I think this tour is tilted towards Cav just with the number of absolutely pan flat sprints there are vs something different, hopefully for 2013 ASO see the possibility in 2 stars really battling it out.

No, greipel wasn't good enough to work for a much superior cyclist, so he was out. are you seriously trying to argue over the fact of cav being a legend while greipel will be considered fodder? lol

well, POSSIBLE olympics and stage wins in GTs/tour, plus what he has already won? that's a legend to me.

greipel is "meh"... Cav already has a nice and hard giro (on his legs) and has other goals.. and this tour isn't over, even if someone brings him down. he already showed that he is faster, smarter and better.. he also does not need a train, but a train is useful when you are so much better and that makes everyone wanting to be in your wheel.

greipel was smoked in stage 2 and today. luckily sagan wasn't there yesterday (cav came from far... for some reason, maybe the fall) and cav the other day.

Yes, he is good.. there's a lot of good riders. But Cav is already 5 levels above, getting ready for the olympics. he is having bad luck, you cannot deny that. anyway, when both were at the front, cav destroyed greipel, as usual.

You can deny the bad luck Phil and Greipel had. I see no difference in denying Cav's bad luck.

If he had a sprint train this would've never happened. Like I said, Cav benefited a great deal of the very strong HTC team. And what do the Olympics have to do with this? This is about the green jersey and Greipel is Sagan's biggest rival now. Not Cavendish. Who says Cav won't fail horribly at the Olympics anyway? Greipel climbs better than him and is faster this year.

Ps: in stage 5 Cav was there and got destroyed...
