The last few km of the circuit makes the finish exciting. Two hills with decent gradient made for punchy attacks. Then a long straight uphill drag to the line that enables a decent uphiller to sustain the attack, (because the group behind doesnt gain that much from beeing in a group here, as it does when its pancake flat the last 2km after the hill) and for the audience to see the whole finishing drama that follows... Must've been gruelling for Gesink seeing the target not moving closer, despite giving everything..

Nice race!

Guys like Nyens should do this instead of fudging up the Vuelta TTT and then sucking for three weeks.

Hey, he's going for the prestigious lanterne rouge!

Are the Canadian races now 3/3 for providing exciting finishes?

Most definitely.

They're tough enough to make sure noone gets a free ride to victory, but open enough that, for instance, a guy like Ciolek can confuse us all by hanging onto Bobby's wheel with 2kms to go on a climb.

I said it last year and they've proven it once more, these races are serious keepers. Can't wait for Quebec City or Montreal to bid for the Worlds. With a little bit of luck, by the time they'll get it Gilbert will have retired and Gesink will be at the peak of his abilities.

Mr. 2011 still playing with the peloton.
Strong performance by Gesink.

Also good rides by Wegmann and Ciolek. They should be ready for the worlds.

I absolutely love the Canadian races. They get it right, unlike California and Colorado which still need some work in race planning.

Question remains. Can the great one's country make a selection at the worlds so the great one can win?

Selection?

Belgium can send 8 circus bears on tricycles in support of Gilbert instead of cyclists...

Gilbert will still dominate

I kinda feel sorry for Gesink :p

And I got a hunge Gilbert will enter Emilia as well.

Yeah but if I see how Gesink went on the steepest climb and Gilbert had a bit of a problem there. I can't see Gilbert beating Gesink there. Sorry.

You think Gilbert will win even on that course?

He only needed 500 meters of 5% in San Sebastian to drop the others like flies...

Copenhagen will be easy if Belgium hold it together

Isn't that slope a bit before the finish line? Isn't there a small stretch of flat after that?

EBH is just completely out of shape since TDF, his wins in eneco and vattenfall were despite his form, not because of it. I knew that Nordhaug has surprisingly been dropping EBH on every training ride lately but hoped that EBH would somehow get his form back before worlds but it doesn't look good. Sky has made him do way too many races, I mean since may he's done picardie, bayern, dauphine, tdf, eneco, vattenfall, plouay and now these 2 races.

Any source on the training and dropped by LPH?

I definitely think either him or Hushovd will win.

Don't know about him outsprinting Hushovd, and the closest lump to finish is about 9km out.

I think all the 'useless' attacks Gilbert used to do when he was younger really made him into the man he is today. He sometimes seems to have endless energy
