Somebody should man up at ag2r and send Betancur home.
This is not good for anybody. Not the rider and certainly not the team.

How is that bad for a team at this stage. Worst case scenario, he can hide entire team from wind for the first kilometres of a stage before he drops. They gain nothing from sending him home.

And why is it bad for Betancur? Because he is publicly humiliated and everybody can see that he is not capable of taking his job seriously so they wont hire him?
Why would anyone, especially AG2R give a ****?
The best case scenario: he wakes up and sees that he has to take care of himself.
Worst: he dissapears from professional sport, but again, why should AG2R or anyone else care?

His team mates will have to look at this clown every day.....

Think about it.....

Yeah, usually joking around and giving someone hard time improves the team spirit (well, minus Betancur of course but again, he cant complain because its because of his own doing). And I think there is more value in him brining bottles than in him being in Colombia.

When you screw up at work is your boss telling you to correct the mistake, work harder, and learn from it (assuming of course he cant really fire you), or is he going to send you on paid holidays (pretty much what it would be for Betancur). Some mocking maybe will teach him humility and in the future he will actually work hard instead. Good lesson for him

I just really hope he makes it to the end of this Vuelta, with or without motor pacing.

He looks like a middle-aged coke baron

This. As funny as it may be one cant escape the feeling that this blob makes a complete mockery of the race and the sport. As talented you may be the least you should learn is discipline and to honor the race.

Lending him a spot on a GT-team wont help him as it shows he can be fat whenever and/or wherever and still land a ride. Ag2R has given him the wrong signals IMO assuming they dont want to destroy his career. In the old days he would been beaten to the pulp for that awful car ride beside having that stinking attitude.

But he is apparently someones son or toyboy so what can you do?

Bananito is already a legend. Let him in peace. He will lose 5-7 kg in the next 10 days and contend for a stage win in the last week. Good timing for the worlds.

I've been a fan of Betancur's since his first year with Acqua e Sapone but even I have concluded that - in view of his current condition - that it is perhaps time that we respectfully ask the mods to consider move this thread out of the 'Professional Road Racing' section.

The AG2R team helpers must be playing scissors/paper/stone every day with the loser getting to lug Carlos' musette around.
