And here's also the explanation why he had such a terrible second week. It just was not logical. His shape and form were more than decent (two victories in the build-up and that 27th place in the 11th stage) in comparison with last year, where he had four top ten places in the Giro.

Don't know if it's smart to race on antibiotics, but I think he worships Valverde too much to leave the Giro.

Yesterday there was an interview with Unzue in La Gazzetta.
When they asked him about the future of the team he said that Betancur will surprise people in 2015, he reminds him a lot of Valverde, until now he never had the same the willpower/mental strength, but they are working on it. Apparenty he thinks that Bananito is on the right way and that he'll have a great 2017. :)

Carlos, are you sure professional cycling is something you would like to pursue as your career?
That's actually a fair question. There's a few of the greats who didn't seem to enjoy cycling that much. Anquetil, Gaul, Herrera basically never rode their bikes again after they retired. Maertens said he doesn't understand why people cycle for fun. I think Nibali might go down the same way.

This forum needs more Bananito!

After a brief vacation in Santa Marta, Carlos (and family) return to europe. No news about his program. Poland-Burgos-Vuelta could be a good one.

Herrera didn't enjoy it. He said that he had the discipline and talent to get good results and used it as means to get money. But wanted to do other things.
He then became fat and drink a lot of beer. He enjoys the money from his motels!

If they state he is their captain, it means he at least is in decent shape AND they have monitored his training. Cant wait to see Betancur in Burgos, I will be in Spain in late august and I really do hope he will be selected for the Vuelta.

Like I said, he is not in the team for Burgos.

Visconti, Sutherland, Rojas, Moreno (Javi), Herrada (José) y Fernández se unirán a Gorka Izagirre y a Alex Dowsett en la 37ª edición de la Vuelta a Burgos (2-6 agosto)
