It is wonderful that Brian Cookson OBE has confirmed
there are plans for a World Cycling Centre Satellite in

of that region.

Will the Satellite be for cameras on bikes?

Is there an easy way to live stream from a gopro? I think the answer is "no" and the footage is a lot less impactful when you wouldn't be able to air it on TV until a day later. Plus riders probably aren't too happy with the idea that it could be used against them (in case of them causing a crash or taking a long rocket bidon).

This is a good idea.
I believe there is another WCC satellite in Kazakhstan. IIRC, that one was announced back during McQuaid's term.

Cameras on bikes make for better TV. Priorities

Now we're talkin'. Cameras on bikes. Cookson needs to make it happen. File Candellera's hour attempt under McQuaid and concentrate on getting a camera on a bike.

21st century cycling. Cameras on bikes.

On-bike cameras would open up possibilities such as “being able to share the view of Chris Froome as he rose up Mount Ventoux or came up the Champs-Elysees” in last year’s Tour de France, said Cookson.

Just how they'll deal with Froome's knees getting in the way of the lens is anyone's guess but Cookson is dedicated to "change". He'll find a way.

Ethically and morally, our job is very simple.
We have to have a sport where a parent
can bring their child and know that that kid
can go all the way to the top of the sport
if they have the ability and the dedication,
without having to lie, without having to cheat,
without having to do things that will risk their
health, without having to spend the rest of
their lives looking over their shoulder.

If we cannot do that as a governing body, then
we have failed our members and our sport. And
we are not going to fail. We are going to succeed.

Don't know about the camera thing, haven't been following it. I'd love to see it, especially if there was sound. A lead out round some corners and a sprint would be great.

I am aware of changes afoot in bike tech. The UCI have just received feedback back from the main manufacturers about the progress being made in developing road discs for the peloton (after the SRAM embarrassment). Final decision to be made in the autumn.

We'll see.

I'm hoping for a yes.

Road discs? You mean disc breaks??

Cameras first. Then work out what Cancellera wants to do for the hour record.

I think first comes to make it obligatory to laugh when pushing 420 watts.

What a complete load of BS. He is the worthy successor to Hein and Pat. He is unswervingly faithful to the true soul of professional cycling.

To back up his mountainous platitudes, Cookson would have to spend mountainous money. He is never going to do that. He reeks of hypocrisy. The storied traditions of pro cycling will continue!

Road disc brakes, yes. Not a priority, but I'm sure Cookson is capable of overseeing more than one thing at once.

Your camera posts are funny and I get the point you are making (as well as having a good old stir), but let's not lose sight of what bike racing is.

Its entertainment.

And he mentioned Froome. Again.

My guess, from the images I've seen, is that on-bike images would be nauseating as hell. No thanks.

You say that...but what Cookson has done is hand you a massive stick with which to beat him at a later date.

Better he says this 'bs' than not. You miss the wider point that Cookson's statement is a goal, not a statement of current reality, and that therefore it contains the tacit admission that as things stand cycling is rotten.

We all know its rotten...but he's admitting it. Did Pat?

The proof of the pudding

OldCookson OBE is certainly spouting forth. Anybody would think he had done that at British Cycling. He might well think that he has achieved that at BC, as he goes for a ride on a Sunday morning with a couple of bottles on his bike with CNP additives in. The clock is ticking.

The problem is that the Saville case was a game changer.

In what way is the case of a serial-paedophile, protected by celebrity,of any relevance to the President of the UCI?

Bizarre

and therefore no team need fear the testing so why ride clean...............

The sport is still a dopers dream. Till the UCI makes anti doping independent and fund it properly it will ever be thus.

in case he ever turns out to be corrupt, cookson can still rightfully claim he's done so much good for so many people.

I'm sorry but the repeated posting of Lance quotes, referring everything back to Lance, and the tortuous attempts to draw parallels with Lance is just 'kin fatuous.

That's this Benotti69 guys style. I think you are better than that.

i was just wondering why oldcrank posted that in a (anti)doping forum.
perhaps to mitigate or draw attention away from cookson's (present or future) failure in the area of anti-doping?
any other reasons?

p.s. I'm quite a benotti69 fan, i have to admit. Your comparison is a big compliment.

Cookson, like McQuaid, is disposable. He gets paid to take the heat, while the people that run things make sure that their fiefdoms remain undisturbed. If there were going to be any (non-BS) initiatives, we'd have seen them by now.
