29 riders DNF. That's what happens when you have a tough final stage finishing on a hilly circuit....in the rain. Like the 2009 Tour of Ireland when Armstrong and a whole load of others didn't bother completing the final circuits.

Really has little to do with Froome..I don't know if he posts on Strava or spares his training data on social media, but it's straight forward, he is not ready.. that could mean from now on, but certainly not right now. Sad but true, his wattage couldn't power Christmas tree lights.. Feel bad for the guy.. Is this some kind of psychological warfare from the team to shame him into quitting? Never should have been on the starting line

I think when a rider of Froome's standing needs to be 'ready' to ride the Czech tour, then he's... screwed. Especially after releasing a video a few weeks ago which said "I WAS READY FOR THE TOUR!" (& also implying some of his IPT teammates who were in the Tour were a bit sh*t). I mean there's no putting lipstick on a pig here. Froomey is pushing his suckage to new levels. He was given time to prepare for the race & all he really knew what to do was sign autographs.

It is kind of funny though, so long may it continue. It'll be a sad day when he retires.

That’s an A++ insult if I’ve ever seen one.

I don't know what Fromme's plan was here. If he was in better shape and just didn't bother to piss of his boss or he really couldn't do better...both is a very bad look for him.

Maybe he secretly wants to get.. fired.

I mean think about it, i.e. after his non selection for the Tour he criticized the team's equipment & then he said some stuff on the Lance Armstrong podcast (of all the people he could chitchat with about his cycling life!) about how his IPT teammates who did go to the Tour had lost their form.

Then he goes to the Czech race, smiles a lot, signs some autographs & gives absolutely zero sh*ts about anything... all whilst repeating again & again that he's still got 2 years on his contract & blablabla he'll be at the 2024 Tour.

IMO he could be looking for a quick way out with a full severance package. For his sake I hope that's somewhere near the truth because at the rate his form is collapsing he's going to have difficulty even finishing these sorts of stage races going forwards. It'll only get worse from here on.

You're right. He's trying to get out of his contract to sign a more lucrative deal elsewhere 😐.........😂

But honestly, I don't think he got much leverage here. All of this makes him look bad. But I can imagine that the scheming master behind this is his loving but even more ambitious wife.

Most teams with this type of sponsorship have a tourism, national showcase, or national diversity angle.. Cycling is supposed to have that pure competition, human angle. Can't imagine any team not having legal language that would put a parallel universe with the UCI..what could Froome's team possibly get.. Even a tiny benefit from going on The Move or any other Armstrong podcast, or video interview, sit down segment? So in bang for your buck..Froome puts on your kit and shoots himself in the foot. And just for the record.. What do disc brakes have to do with climbing? with going uphill? As an owner- operator, what would happen if they bent over backwards and built up a few rim brake bikes for his highness? Does anyone, including Froome really, truly believe that equipment is whats holding him back?
Pretty straight forward, tried training and mental preparation including extended exchanges with Lance Armstrong, did it further personal, professional, team goals? Obviously not. Do something different next time. Even OJ didn't say bad things about Ford Broncos

Small grupetto finished at 29:28mins, Froome probably was in a group behind these.

Probably would have lost 30 to 35 minutes today… Ok, 176 kms, 3200 vertical meters, difficult stage. And good climbers on the startlist. But 30 or 35 minutes is a bit much, for Froome. Hope his next race will be more encouraging.

Off topic, I hope the winner Toupalik now gets a WT or PCT contract, finally. Much too good to ride CT all his career.

Equipment issues again impeding to show a result.

It once again proves that one could have the ultimate bike, the best brakes, the last 1x drivetrain, the tightiest face sock or the lightest wheels, but the most prevailing equipament a rider has on the road are his legs.

I think he needs to see a psychologist, obviously sticking around for the money I can understand you may never earn that sort of wage again. He is clearly hanging on to an older life and version of himself and maybe he needs to go speak to someone about his delusions.

From this interview the day before the Czech Tour started it sounds like he wasn't very optimistic

Translation
Froome heads to the Czech Tour with problems and no ambitions: It's hard for me not to live up to expectations

According to PCS, Froome's contract is up at the end of the year. If Cav can get a contract to win one stage at the Tour, then I would not be surprised if he can get something for next year.

Except Cav won this year and last year and looked like he could win at the Tour. Froome hasn’t done anything.
