“Chris broke his wrist in Tirreno-Adriatico and that slowed his progression. Now let's see how he progresses until the start of the Tour de France,” Verbrugge told Cyclingnews.
“Selection for the Tour will not only be based on Chris Froome’s performance, the sporting cohesion of the team is also important.
“The selection will be made after the Tour de Suisse when we have all the information from the riders. The best team that we can put on the start line will go to the Tour de France.”

So on paper Froome is a Swiss Army knife, he has tons of experience, climbing credentials and individual time trial abilities. So why the holding him back?.
If you want to do something for Froome and Israel Premier, send him, just keep having him launch bombs until he gets in one of these obvious small breaks.
Today no worry riders allowed to get at@5 minutes before any action and that was for the stage, not GC. I personally would interested to see if Froome could physically force something that would command respect or if he is really written off as highly paid ancient history and nobody to worry about.
Do alarm bells go off if Froome gets in a breakaway or do people keep hitting the snooze button for additional years until he retires or announces some Nairobi development deal with a big food company or African based bank or mineral concern.
What are they waiting for?

Waiting for last stages of the race

Given his recent form over the past few years no alarm bells would go off anywhere with froome in a break, and his fellow riders in the break would likely focus on others regarding winning the stage as well.

It's sad but it's true. He really is written off as highly paid ancient history and nobody worries about him.

They can't just let him go while he's under contract. Normally they wouldn't send him to races and waste money on his 'training' and equipment, just pay him what his contract says & to accept that you've been scammed. But rumour is that moron sportswashing sponsor wants Froome and he will also be their TdF captain :D

IIRC last year technical issues with his bike prevented him from showing his true form to the team and resulted in him missing the Tour. Hopefully no external factors will stand on his way this time: there are 3 mountain stages to show off his form in Dauphine!

Hmmm, yes. "Technical issues". Like him (and the team) just discovering, after years of riding his bike for IPT, that his saddle height was like an inch different than it was at Sky.

Which, even given the history of BS he spewed while at Sky, was honestly a new low, even for a pathological liar like Froome.

Weirdly, fixing this "technical issue" didn't fix his performances.

Why do you bring common sense and realism into this? We were having a good time. The technical issues are behind him now, and he's obviously a shoe-in on the team. Aint nobody showing any signs on form on that team anyways, especially not in Dauphine.

Indeed.

If Froome didn't personally witness Derek Gee winning stage 3 in this Dauphiné - which he didn't because he was dropped eh - then it never happened.

Victory is in the eye of the beholder.
