now people say Froome will not win this , but for sure he is in conservative mode , he said after thestage that he feels good but then he said that with the help of team he hope to finish the job , these are two non coherent sentences , MAYBE HE IS COOKED

He appeared to have a hunger crisis. For sure he will be among the best again on Saturday.

I think it's more fatigue, as hunger flats usually result in a bigger time loss but who knows ?
He was eating on the final climb, so maybe not an all out hunger knock but just the start of it?

Spot on with your post - The two times Froome's had a bad stage it's blamed on hunger knock.

the accumulated fatigue is finally catching up froome. as multiple times noted, its a second consecutive gt, so big or just local crisis may reach on pretty much any gc-relevant stage. the game is on. it's still about 60/40 in froome's favor, but he'll have to pour lots of blood and sweat to keep this lead.;)

I thought he said he didn't go all out in the time trial so he could save himself for today? He has become pretty odious this Vuelta, even if usually he's PR ready and inoffensive. The idiocy of the communism statement, saying that others should go for stage wins instead of GC and the constant trash talking. I wouldn't mind the trash talking, but it's so immensely low tier trash talking that it offends me. It's what people in the UK call chatting out of your *rse.

i think that you can read the fact of the stage wins instead of oging for gc in two ways , the first one that make you think of his arrogance and the second one that make you think that Froome know very well that if he was not in team sky he would go for stage wins so indicates that froome is aware of his real level

in spite of everything, I think he will attack.
on the final climb will try to put down its 400 watts( as He did in the first week)
We will see if the legs are agree

the interesting fact I caught myself thinking is Nibali and Froome are fighting out a big slice of legacy at the moment. For one of them it will be a fifth grand tour and quite likely the last one.

you are almost right , but i think that if Nibali wins will be his last one , as for Froome , but if Froome doesn't win he will retrun to win lavuelta

I think he is in big trouble now, he will be attacked relentlessly until Saturday, and if he is fading like we all think, that 1:16 gap won't last a couple of km on Angliru. Nibali will follow the Lopez/Contador move this time and I can see Froome really struggling on those gradients. Nibali 6/1 looks amazing value right now.

It's just such low tier shitposting. If you change approach every day then nobody believes you and all that hard work in mind games is for nothing. And the things he says are so predictable too.

Not sure about this. Last year it was even tougher for him with the Olympics in between, a tougher tour, and a peaking even before the Dauphine, yet he held his form all the way through the Vuelta.

I'm sure he'll be fine. The final climb today was pretty extreme but tomorrow his legs will be spinning like mad again.

He has to get through these next two stages AND Angliru, while apparently fading. Going to be tough.

Somebody has already written it in another thread but I have to repeat it. I love the fact that this Vuelta will be decided on the Angliru between the two riders who lost the Vuelta on that climb the last two times the Angliru was raced. That's almost poetic.

As I'm not a big Froome fan but a very big Nibali fan, I'm rooting for the Italian but still I have to admit that Froome deserves this win, after all the close misses in the vuelta. However my dream scenario would be Nibali winning this year and Froome winning the vuelta in a few years, when he is no longer capable of winning the tour, as the last big win of his career, but then in a fighting style no longer hiding behind his team but attacking like a real champion.

Yep, and it just makes it an even more mythical climb. Weird to think how relatively new the Angliru is as far as racing is concerned

Like I said . Any hard GT and Froome always has a bad day . I do think he will be strong enough to hang though .
Once again giving a sound beating by Bertie a rider who his riding great but not the rider of old.
He will be missed next year . It will be back to robot racing.
What did you Froome fans think of his post interview. He kept repeating the same thing "bounce back"
Is it a bluff and he's blown it or do you think he will bounce back ?
Do you fear one of Bertie's long range attacks ?
Nibs looks a real threat ....
