Last time Froome and Nibali did Angrilu together, Froome led by 1:20 prior to stage, by the end of the stage he was over three minutes ahead of Nibali.
Interestingly Poels was up there with Froome.

A more realistic comparison would be the best time they got up the Angliru when they were both riding to win the Vuelta. Froome 2011: 44'45", Nibali 2013: 43'34"

very correct but not many are correct like you , comparing froome 2011 and nibali 2011 after he did a grueling giro is like comparing ferrari 1970 and ferrari 2017

Like I said . Any hard GT and Froome always has a bad day . I do think he will be strong enough to hang though .
Once again giving a sound beating by Bertie a rider who his riding great but not the rider of old.
He will be missed next year . It will be back to robot racing.
What did you Froome fans think of his post interview. He kept repeating the same thing "bounce back"
Is it a bluff and he's blown it or do you think he will bounce back ?
Do you fear one of Bertie's long range attacks ?
Nibs looks a real threat ....
I cant speak for all of Froome's fans but for me personally Froome could come in last place it doesnt matter to me as this is just a prep race to maintain excellent form into the next season. The real excitement in Madrid for me personally is the end of Alberto of Pinto the most overhyped overrated rider of all time. Vete Alberto.

What is racing going to be like without Bertie. Just watching Froome being towed up every climb and attacking in the last km or 2. I suspect your a big Froome fan and once Bertie goes there is no one else to put a spanner in the works the way Bertie does. The most attacking and exciting rider perhaps of all time and still kicking as£ right up till the last pedal turns. What a shame that your hate has let you miss out on the joy of watching such a great rider.
We can only hope Someone else fills his shoes or we are stuck with robot GT's for the next season or 3.
He will be sadly missed by all except a few haters. 2014 the dauphine , Froome and Bertie full gas ,does not get much better than that.

   HAHAHAHHAHA

I don't even know where to begin. Prep race for next season? That honestly has NO relevance for next year's Tour. If anything it might actually be more detrimental to put your body through a GT instead of just going into winter training. Plus he stated EXPLICITLY that he is targeting this Vuelta, it's not just an afterthought.

Whatever you think of Contador he is a million times more exciting as a rider than Froome has ever and will ever be and has won 7(9) GTs while Froome has 4, on his way to 5. I fail to see how he is overhyped. Maybe in the past few seasons with people thinking he could genuinely challenge Froome in the TdF, but that's just his fandom. Most overhyped rider of all time? Elaborate please.
Naah, contador has won only two important GT's while Froome has won four. So Froome is 100% better and contador is overhyped :p :D

Allow me to translate as he is very likely to continue with the same level of bs in his response: That post is a cover for the chance that Froome continues to struggle, loses his lead to Nibali and once again loses the Vuelta. It is this individual's coping mechanism to deal with potential disappointment. May his rusty steel bike disintegrate as he transports it in his similarly rusting El Camino from one of his retro-wool-attired rides. :p

LMAO!!! He's one of those who likely traded his USPS jerseys for Team Sky ones. Still pissed about 2009. Those are the ones who really hate Contador- the "he attacked his team leader Lance" on Arcalis fans.

No, it's a legitimate point: every time Froome wins the Tour, he rode the previous Vuelta, every time he loses the Tour (2014) he didn't ride the previous Vuelta. 100% correlation.

The last six Tour winners rode the previous year's Vuelta for GC. Only Froome in 2015 didn't finish in the top four (he crashed out)

My point is centered on the op's assertion that the Vuelta is "just a prep race" for Froome. That, as we all know, is bs. He wouldn't have geared his entire 2017 season around having form for both the Tour and Vuelta if that were the case. The fact that he has attempted multiple times to win it and failed tells me it's more than just a "prep race". Like a said earlier, it just makes steel bike rider feel better in instance that Froome fails again, should that happen (I don't think it will though).

All of the grand tours are important, that's why they're given the designation "grand". If the Vuelta wasn't important, Froome would not be continuously trying to win it. "Prep race"? If it makes you and yours feel better in thinking that, feel free to continue to live in your alternate world of delusional thinking.

for sure, froome is always to fight for the win here and it's no way in hell a prep race for him. Still, quite obvious riding the Vuelta has a positive impact on his tour performance next year. that's difficult to argue with this,

He's not trying to win vuelta but tour+vuelta 'cause he seems to be the only rider for some 30 years who has enough talent to do that :p

for now he is , but hearing Quintana saying that he does not believe that froome is superior to him and they are at just different times of career will see if he is the only one ....who knows

It's far from over, Angliru is a beast and he can lose a lot of time there if suffering another bad day.
