Chris Froome still deliberating racing into 2026

C'mon Israel, you gotta do it. You might think he's washed but I can feel it, there is something still left in those legs. His results can easily be explained with bad luck, crashes, wrong saddle positions and scheduling. The guy who can win the TdF is still in there, I know it. Can't take the risk of letting him go somewhere else. 4 years 20 million, who says no?

I think they should prank him. Live stream it. Aka invite Froome to the IPT headquarters for a contract renewal and Rick roll him.

having Froome in this sport is now very important, because he is kind of have a balancing effect. basically serve as a sort of the Anti-Pogačar. I compare him to a Jedi who is fighting a dark Sith lord, who wants to rule the entire UCI race calendar.

you lost me there, nevermind

I love reading the posts on social media from people who defend him with comments like "he's got 5 million reasons to ride on and good for him, we'd all do the same".

It's like there's a defence-force for everything in 2025, no matter what it is and no matter the absurdity of the thing they're defending - which in this instance is a greedy 4x TdF winner who fleeced a man with way more money than sense (Sylvan Adams).

I mean good for Froome if the standard here is being a Tarantino-esque anti-hero but if the standard is being a champion then he fails at pretty much every hurdle. It's basically not cool for a 7x GT champion to ride around in the gruppetto for 5 years until he's 40 whilst claiming he's building form for some sort of comeback. Unless he's trying to make everyone laugh. At which point, well done I guess. Funny joke.

What if he just likes riding his bike competitively (I know he has not competed much, but still)?

Pretty much.

And while you can blame the crash or whatever reason, the simple fact is that his best form was probably at Sky in 2020 in the Vuelta still, and for his current team he only remotely did okay in the 2022 TdF. He's been taking the complete piss otherwise.
