Don't think the 'Erlaitz is a great climb for Evenepoel' argument flies here either. Yes, the false flat at the end favours him, but he was getting dropped on this kind of stuff in the Itzulia queen stage, and he was in pretty good form then. This is the performance of someone who will be fighting for the Vuelta win. Whether he can stay in that fight on the biggest mountains and over three weeks remains to be seen, but he's definitely above outsider status.

hard to know. no added time on the descent that makes sense. but the flat and the climb to come might see it gap that much i suppose.

If Jay freaking Hindley can win a GT, Remco can too.

I think he would. He did in the past and easily dropped Remco on the climb. Remco did most of the damage today on descent and flat.

hard to say, he is more explosive... so maybe he could hold on... but the base tempo was pretty high it seems, so now sure if he wouldn't be strung out either. Maybe we know more when we have climbing times/ numbers.
