It has nothing to do with a 'route that suits Remco' or not. It is a race that suits Remco because there is no fight for positioning (same as Liege).

And most importantly in a race like this the team can ride at the front of the pack all day. Seeing the reports from the early parts of the race they were constantly in front. Same happened in the classics he won last year.

In race like Tirreno, Itzulia or Vuelta they cannot do that and thats when he starts to suffer.

We can appreciate the brilliance of Remco Evenpol as a hilly one day race superstar, even if we can't possibly know that his brilliance will transfer to 3 weeks.

We know with Masnada it can however, but he is not as explosive as Remco on races like this. And Remco also have that engine, to maintain that pace after his attack. Unique rider

I think he would. He did in the past and easily dropped Remco on the climb. Remco did most of the damage today on descent and flat.
So in order to determine whether a peak Pogacar (which he suposedly is not at the moment) could stay with Evenepoel, you refer to a moment where peak Pogacar dropped a non-peak Evenepoel.

Yes i think Pogacar would be able to follow Evenepoel, but i don't you're using the best argument here.

Don't think the 'Erlaitz is a great climb for Evenepoel' argument flies here either. Yes, the false flat at the end favours him, but he was getting dropped on this kind of stuff in the Itzulia queen stage, and he was in pretty good form then. This is the performance of someone who will be fighting for the Vuelta win. Whether he can stay in that fight on the biggest mountains and over three weeks remains to be seen, but he's definitely above outsider status.
Nobody needs to spin this.

Evenepoel is simply a great rider.

Better than Van Aert even.

Its a shame young Wout isn't here, with his good tour form he could've got himself a nice little top 10 and gained some valuable experience from watching Evenepoel in action.
