This race has changed names and number of stages over the years. Looks like this year is set to be an early season sprinter world championship for the men as almost every sprinter worth his quads is set to start.

Men's 207.9k
Women's 162.8k

The map and profile is for the men's race but there's no meaningful difference other than the length.

I'm actually hoping there are no echelons as I just want to see these guys sprint it out on equal terms.

Halfway serious predictions:

QS will boss the lead out and Jakobsen will win.
Ewan will be out of position and hardly sprint
Gaviria will crash or get Covid again before the start.
FDJ will make a strong appearance at the front and then completely disappear in the final sprint
No telling with Groenewegen and Merlier. I could see either win or not even sprint.

Top-names among the women includes - from the top of my head:

Balsamo, Bastianelli, Kopecky, Norsgaard, Wiebes.

The race is on Wednesday (the 23rd) by the way.

The wind should be in the right direction, but too weak (12-14 km/h).

No wind so another bunch sprint in Belgium. This time with top tier sprinters tho so atleast the final 10k are interesting.

No Ewan tho. Still sick.

The women's race is the day after the men's. I'm not sure if the wind forecast is similar and we can get something like last year with echelons and Grace Brown's solo escape. If not, hard to look past Wiebes on the form she's on.

Getting tired of seemingly every race having an underwhelming startlist compared to normal... between the illness raging through the peloton and the huge gap from the best to the rest, this year has felt pretty deflated so far.

Just want to inform you guys about something!
This could very well be the first WT race (not including stages) not won by either a Slovenian, or Van Aert!

Would be rather hillarious if Mezgec somehow managed to win...

Has Blythe just said he's done 52mph on an ebike? Surly that's going downhill unless it's de-regulated therefore illegal in the UK?

Rider just smashed straight into one of the flag-wavers!
Not 100% sure what happened, only caught the slow.

Aah, it was Kanter, and he's okay.
Hope the other guy is okay too.
