You gotta admit you're very hyperbolic. It wasn't "beyond incredible", it was a very good performance at around the level we expect from Duarte, who is not some random schmuck but a former u23 world champion who's already shown he has what it takes to make it in the pro ranks. You could say it was better than expected because he had been crap this season so far, and because these races don't suit him perfectly well (not as well as tougher races), but "beyond incredible" is a bit too much.

I'm glad to see Duarte performing so good today- lets hope the team also gets more work done and can support him in coming races.

I'm looking forward to L-B-L :)

I like Duarte very much, thanks. He rode well and showed good fighting spirit. It was most definitely not "beyond incredible". It wasn't even incredible.

duarte was amazing. with voeckler the strongets in the race. closing the gap to that group solo and then attacking in the thundering rain. the guy is 55 kg. he's not a rider for flemish races. imagine him in serious climbs

I hate to ruin the pity party you've got going on, but I'm only a hater of one person on this forum, and it's not you.

I know this is somewhat off topic but has there been any news on Quintana's status? I know he had an injury but has a time table been set on approximately when he will return to competition?

I thought I'd read he'd crashed and been injured. That's good to know. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the Giro.

it's clear that the team is on the right track towards peaking. Collectively, they were much better than 1 month ago.

theu send thrir better team at apennino and fleche , second team in trentino.
corti is probably very confidentof duarte doing something in fleche.
i thought trentino was a better chance for the escarabayos. but fleche is a classic and they want to have good relationships with aso, in order to go dauphine' and for the years to come, i guess.

anyway, corti was able to create a very dense racing schedule

I think without the Fleche wildcard they'd have had a great A team in Trentino, but had to split their leaders so as not to be completely invisible at Fleche. I'm hopeful for Duarte but at Fleche you need to be starting the last climb in the top 20 and I'm not confident that he'll be able to position himself well enough, especially if he's not got teammates around him. Atapuma will do something in Trentino though.

big article yesterday in l'equipe:

74895981939133358887.jpg

who wants the link of .pdf download, let me know.

interesting stories from the article:

esteban chaves:"in bogota,or you climb or you find other job".
esteban chaves:"i have only one wish:win le tour!"

dr. massimiliano mantovani the actual doctor of coldeportes team who was riccardo ricco's doctor at ceramica flaminia:"chaves is a phenomenon with beast qualities!"

dr. massimiliano mantovani :".aldo sassi tested riccardo in the lab at castelanza, very good results.BUT CHAVES IS BETTER,ABOVE HIM.riders like him,i never saw.on the climbs, when he's ready, nobody can stay near him"

michael rodriguez:"i took the train for the first time:

valerio tebaldi:"osorio and wilson marentes saw the snow for first time"

except duarte, all of them are gaining between 23000-30000 euros per year.

valerio tebalid:"we have to be patients with them, they have to learn.for example in gp costa degli etruschi,if one of them had a mechanical, all the others stopped and waited for him.at laigueglia they all attacked on the climb even if it was 125 km to the finish".

so bottome line:let's be patient with them if we can...

duarte is great at placing himself. however his tank was clealry empty on the final climb. he's not anywhere near topshape yet. let;s hope he gets rest now until california
