Great win by Rigo. He looked very strong, as did young Bernal. Ala cracked and proved he's not Bala yet :p
Alaphilippe will never be able to climb as well as Valverde, probably not even close to his level (at least on a consistent level). He will have a better kick than Valverde tho, at least on shallower gradients, great endurance and great technically, so should at least get a few big classic wins. I also think RVV is within his reach, at least its better suited to him than it is to Valv.

BTW, these pictures are great. I loved the finale and great that the Colombians get to see their big riders duel it out in their home country, imagine if Lopez and Chaves had been there as well.

If this race is treated like this by the top Colombian pros every year - ie as a really big deal - it’s a great addition to the international calendar.

It’s also an example of internationalization of the pro calendar in a way that hasn’t had to be forced from above - the mass audience and the top level athletes are already there, it just took a race big enough to put the two together. No roads empty except for cops at this one. The UCI should be doing everything possible to nurture this race.

I only said he reminds me of a young Valverde and in many ways he does. I also said he's not as good of a climber and he may never be. Ala truly does in many ways remind me of a young Valverde. He's just not as complete. Truthfully I don't think we'll see a rider that complete again in a long time, possibly not in my lifetime (Bala is only a couple years younger than I am).
Now to convince Ala that he needs to race RVV. Bala keeps saying he's going to and not for one reason or another and Nibali says he's going to this year.

I agree that the pictures of all the fans out there supporting this race and their riders has been awesome to see. Definitely a showcase for the fans and their home riders.

Sadly, i cannot say much about this stage. I assume it was good. I managed to find a clip from a tv station called Colombia Señal. I guess the same coverage was across any other tv stations. The tv coverage was one of the worst i've ever seen. For some reason they decided to present the action on the last climb via a helicopter. I wouldn't mind it, but the climb was heavily covered with foliege. I saw practically nothing of the action. I could only distinguish Bernal, because of his very white Sky shirt.

Welcome, cycling is beautiful sport... Hang in there, you will enjoy many things. :p
It's the only TV broadcast as it's the case in 99.9% of the races.
While there are many things to improve, it's the best they have ever done in Colombia... And, apart from San Juan this year, probably the best ever done in Latin America.
Atrocious coverage is not exclusive to that area... Some races in Asia and even in Europe have had fix camera at the finish for hours or just one moto (and not only in difficult weather conditions)

Cannot get any broadcast from Señal Colombia.
Meant to be on now but I am getting a not available in your area message. I watched it 2 days ago no problem. I am in Spain.
Broadcast starts at 12:30pm local time, an hour later than yesterday.
Thanks I have just got a signal and spotted the time change. In case anyone else has a problem with the links on Cycling fans or Steephill go direct to the TV website. Link is here. http://www.senalcolombia.tv/
