last year he lost 44 seconds on a shorter course at the dauphine
so although its fair to say it wasnt great he was only 1 position down and 49 seconds distance adjusted
nothing to worry about but its admittedly not that great
after the prologue maybe we all just expected a bit much tho

Anyone else notice his scooting back every couple of seconds on his TT bike?
Seems like he rides on a solid carbon seat that has no grip.
He slides forward on his seat and then pops back every couple seconds, he never used to do this on previous TT set ups?
I think he is going to suck in longer TT's from losing power because he is constantly pushing himself back on his seat.

He basically said it just wasn't his day ("couldn't find a rhythm") and once he realized he was 32" down, he stopped taking risks ("shut it down"). So it wasn't the bike, allergies or anything else. Just a bad day.

EDIT: from his facebook/twitter pages:

Good test today, hard TTwith a lot of wind,I missed the rhythm, but I am happy with the feelings.Congratulations to @JaniBrajkovic,very strong

not a big deal really. as i said on another thread, if he can't hang on with the best climbers tomorrow then there may be, just may be a concern.

it's really funny armstrong comes 5th in a diluted field, it's touted as a super show, berto comes 6th in a strong company of specialists - it's a failure.

i guess he spoiled us.

nothing happened to him...

Main problem is radio-gaga that is testing well, first Horner in Basque country and now Brajkovic. For sure that Lance will be super-strong at the Tour with his hidden weapon, whatever it is :D

And this year AC is not aligned with Bruyneel...

Now if this had been LA there would be all kinds of comments on his age, fitness, suppositions of juice past and present, blah, blah, blah.........

You'd think allergy season and the need for "allergy" medicine was about over?

based on this post, you evidently don't suffer from allergies. allergy season is NEVER over. it all depends on what one is allergic to.

He has been doing that his whole career.

It is part of the Contador/Armstrong battle. Flick of the hand sandbagging.
They both do it. Alberto is learning from Lance..... this race means nothing to Alberto.

From Contador's official site:

Alberto does not want to risk a fall, he knew he was not in time. “In the curves I wanted not to risk so much because I knew that was not the best time. These days I'm trying to get little by little the pace of the Tour de France”.

http://www.albertocontador.com/prensa.detalle.php?id=387

I can understand that, the roads are pretty crappy in the Dauphiné compared to the Tour.

First I thought he was purposefully holding back but then again he said the TT was the only stage where he'd go all out ... probably it's nothing to worry about though. Contador showing a sign of weakness ... that's too good to be true.

Why are the AC haters always posting under new accounts?
