I can't believe Cookson's reaction to this, it was obvious from the beginning that this was a case for the fashion police at worst, he has revealed himself to be a complete reactionary fool.

This is one of the least contentious photos of the outfit. The Daily Mail news website Mailonline has gathered together a number of photos where there appears to be an unfortunate triangular shadow, or shade in the fabric, exactly where you wouldn't want it to be. This of course has allowed the Mail's readers to go off on another anti-cycling tirade. Mailonline is said to be the most read news website in the world.

Pretty much only said by the Mailonline....

BBC news trounces it in readership, and I don't think even the BBC is the most read news website in the world.

The next logical step is for Cookson to ban white shorts...

Reminds me of the (deleted) schlong thread.

I think the moment in time is whats important here. I mean we´ve just finished a totally legit and clean Vuelta (he himself was there last day) and what cant be of more importance in that moment then getting the ladies fashion in order?

Cookson - fashion officer

In 2012 this is what the BBC's own online news site stated:

`The Daily Mail has overtaken the New York Times to become the world's most visited newspaper website, according to online tracking service Comscore. The biggest increase in readers has been in the US - so how did this very British institution do it?'

Looking at figures for 2014, one site has the Mail Online at 8th and the BBC at 13th. Comscore has the Mail Online fourth in December 2013, but this just for readership in the USA, where apparently it had a readership of 37 million. Quite why so many people in the US would want to read it beats me.

A quick update, the Beeb has been running the story see `Seven shocking strips worn by sports teams'. So two online news sites with huge readerships are highlighting the story.

Unfortunately, whilst you and I might think that the Vuelta podium consists of drug cheats (and privately Cookson might agree), in public he needs a little more to go on. Forum tittle-tattle probably won't cut it in court.

The tests can be cheated. Everything else is just opinion.

In the meantime, life goes on....

How about positive tests, as is the case for Rodgers, Impey, Ullisi? Is that enough evidence, or will we hear Chris Horner saying there needs to have been video evidence before Cookson takes a stand?

You just made Cookson look like a ignorant, incompetent fool. Surely, he doesnt need forum to tell him that the heritage owned from Hein/Fat Pat was corrupt and dirty?

#1 there's no court. This is not a judicial system. It's a arbitration system.
#2 An actually employed anti-doping, blood profile, expert examines Horner's published values and declares them dodgy, then wonders why he hasn't seen them before.

Cookson has plenty of data. He just doesn't want to sanction some riders, while others get all kinds of random processing. The Zorzoli/Sky/TUE from earlier this year is ample evidence of this.

All those cases are before Cookie's time, unlike the three presented to you...

Cookson getting, rightly, called out on his abilities as Pres of UCI.

Cookson defo old school style president.

Hmmm....

Depends on whether your 'old school' is a veiled reference to Verbruggen and McQuaid.

The guardian piece is just a point of view saying that the issue over kit is irrelevant and thatCookson hasn't advanced women's interests in cycling in the months he has been in office.

I think Cookson wants to be associated with the rebirth of interest in the hour record, rather than any particular love or praise for Voigt. I do agree it's unsettling to hear his comments tonight though. This omerta lark pays out pretty nicely, doesn't it!

I also laugh at his unability to hide his anglophone/germanic bias, singling out wiggins, phinney, martin and cancellara as future candidates for the hour record.
the rampant numbers of italian, south american and russian positives under his reign make more sense in that light.
