The CIRC is about the the 90's and 2000's.......the Lance years.....it isn't about a two-bit doper in second tier team in September 2012....not in their remit

Mark L

Mark, it appears you are wrong again. A rider very similar to JTL who was also busted for EPO talked to the CIRC last year.

Why does Cookson not want JTL to talk?

That argument doesn't make sense.

Should riders be afforded confidentiality in the BP process prior to any charge?

It wasn't an argument. It was a statment.

I see no reference to timescale or just Lance. I think you've made a mistake ....again.

In fact Cokson has invited current day riders to the CiRC. The Iglinskiy brothers most recently.

Let JTL speak.

“We have agreed a budget for the Commission, which the UCI will cover in full, and we have also expressed our wish that its work be concluded this year. Other than that, the Independent Commission based in Lausanne will operate completely independently of the UCI and will organise its work as it chooses. The Commission’s terms of reference will explicitly state that the Commission will act autonomously and that its members will not receive any instruction from the UCI.”

It appears you have no clue about what the CIRC is for.....no wonder you keep thinking I am wrong.......you are talking about Santambrogio........Santambrogio raced with LPR (2004-2006), Lampre (2006-2009) and BMC (2010-2012) before joining Vini Fantini.........therefore he is within the remit of the CIRC.........we do not know what he said to the CIRC.

Cookson announcing CIRC .....

"it will investigate the problems cycling has faced in recent years, especially the allegations that the UCI has been involved in wrongdoing in the past –allegations which have done so much to hurt the credibility of the UCI and our sport”.

.........you've made another mistake Hoggie....just because you can't see something doesn't mean it isn't there.....you've lost your sharpness Hoggie.....making mistakes all over the place

Call me whatever you want Mark, if it makes you feel better.

I am sure they would also ask him about what happened when he got busted. Who helped him? Where did he get the EPO?

Let JTL talk.

Statements don't normally start "Because....."

I'm still not clear on whether or not riders should be afforded confidentiality in the preliminary stages of the investigation.

We dont know that JTL hasnt been invited - its just that he hasnt been invited publicly. Not thst it matters as it doesnt seem he is in the mood to confess, etc.

Errr, no.

The remit was up to 2013, which includes JTL 2012 doping at British Cycling.

Sorry.

Cookson’s full statement:

Finally, while the focus of the CIRC’s work is the period between 1998-2013, it can go back further if it wishes to. There is no backstop beyond which evidence would be inadmissible.

The CIRC’s door is open. I hope the cycling family and enlightened commentators encourage potential witnesses to come forward, and don’t give them excuses for staying silent. The CIRC is navigating complex and difficult waters but this important Commission can and will work if the cycling world wants it to. It is time for change, time to fully come to terms with the past and prepare for a very bright future, and the CIRC is a vital part of that process.

Err...JTL banned in 2014.....sorry.....CIRC is all about cycling pre-Cookson....its about the interaction between the UCI and the doping that went on during the Verbruggen and McQuaid years....that is why Cookson wants Vino and Riis to talk......the big difference is JTL denies as The Spud correctly points out

Mark, you're becoming embarrassing now.

You didn't understand the TUE committee and now you've lost sight of the remit CIRC committee.

It's very straight forward. Even with your selective bias.

There's no reference that you can only speak to the CiRC only once your ban begins. JTL has information pertaining to doping in 2012 at Sky/British Cycling then he can talk to them if he shall choose. His process began in 2013.

Per 2014, the Iglinskiy brothers who were invited in 2014.

As part of the effort to underline its unwavering commitment to a clean sport, Astana Pro Team has also invited Valentin and Maxim Iglinskiy to contact the CIRC (Cycling Independent Reform Commission) and will certainly implement recommendations contained in the CIRC’s report to help all teams in enforcing their own internal anti-doping rules

http://velonews.competitor.com/2014...thers-contact-circ_349039#3fbaQS16EfX7WSvO.99

It's clear from Cookson's comments he is threatening JTL not to speak.

Sorry.

Thanks for the post. Good information.

Which I guess puts Cookson's comments into frame; he should have invited JTL to speak to the CIRC and not threaten him.

Seems like Cookson/Sky/bc are more interested in throwing JTL under the bus and distancing themselves from him. Looks like they could learn from Astana on how to be transparent and anti doping

Even Hoggie has realised that he isn't going to get away with misconstruing JTLs denials as a willingness to talk and Cooksons words of advice not to criticise the system that caught him as 'threats_'..........the Hoggies game is a little stale......he's wise to beat a retreat......its a shame you are still trying to flog a dead horse

from which cookson is supposed to be independent.

anyway, the one thing that stands out is JTL's comment on UCI letters being sent to toptier riders. No denial from Cookson. Just a warning to JTL.
