So what's so special about that name? You may find Robert Robert or Thomas Thomas everywhere else.

The truth is that it's not even his full name. Many Javanese persons born before this century only have a single name, no surname, no middle name, just a name (including the first two presidents). So when it needs to fill Western name convention, they just do this

and although there is also a Kendrick Boots, it seems cooler as a forename than a family name.

Yea, I like Boots Cayubit, sounds like a funk musician.

There are a couple of other good ones in the Filipino péloton, I like "El Joshua Cariño" because of the definite article being his first name, Jericho-Jay Lucero and Jaybop Ollidrap Pagnanawon.

Turns out it's a biblical name derived from Benjamin. It sounds Italian but apparently isn't given to children over there (can anyone confirm?). In 2021 less than 25 children were given the name and so far in 2022 only 1.

I can confirm it's not an Italian given name.

That is inviting the question. To beg (originally 'beggar') the question means to assume an answer to a matter that has not been proven.
(not your fault: I rail at this one a couple of times a week on average)


Nothing too interesting, I'm afraid.
The groundskeeper/caretaker of a church, word derived from the same root as sacristan, which is a role more about preparation of vestments and altar cloths etc.

Derived from 'guardian of holy things', so I would guess that a Sexsmith was a maker of holy things: perhaps a silversmith who specialised in chalices etc. Sorry to disappoint.

Not a cyclist but... There is a building firm called "Kerkstoel" that sponsored races like Nokere Koerse, Heiste Pijl etc in Belgium.
The name "Kerkstoel" literally means "church chair" in Dutch, there's only a handful of people called that name and they can all be traced back to 2 people who where foundlings.
Basically their birth-parents gave them up and put the foundlings in a church on a chair. The young boys were given a name and a family name. The latter was simply where they were found. And that's how people ended up getting called Churchchair or Kerkstoel in Belgium.
