That was close! Less than three seconds separates the first three.

Seems Barker had a puncture and changed a wheel. Really big effort to get second

Some really amateurish and inexperienced stuff all round from the first group of riders and their mechanics.

Howson 27second better than Gomez at end of 1st lap (3rd intermediate). Will be first of the first group?

Brayan is a huge talent. Hope he'll do well here.

I doubt it as he only arrived here 2 days ago... incredible again, so he';s hurting from jetlag for sure a bit.

No I don't except that much either. As you mentioned he's only 18 as well. But he'll be interesting to follow none the less. Hopefully we'll get to see some of his riding. Him and Jungels are the ones I look forward to the most.

Dowson is just mashing a hard tempo!

Look at the average speed though. 47km/h. Not sure it's a top 15 performance.

Durbridge will be doing 50km/h around this course and you would expect some of the other guys to do 48/49.

Still, it's going to be good to see Howsen in the hot seat for a good hour and a bit. :D

There looks to be not many hills on it. His National win in January he clocked around 50km/h. Last week didn't he go close to 50km/h too.

He is capable of it. But like I say, I don't know how tough the course is to see if those speeds are possible.

in general it is flat but has quite a few sweeping corners.

He's not one to feel the pressure. Plus he better get used to it anyway. Once he turns pro probably next year there will be a few time trials he will be favourite in assuming Martin and Cancellara aren't there.

He didn't manage 50kmh in the straight up and back in Delhi last year. Conditions there obviously a bit tougher and he is a year older, but there are enough corners here to slow it down. I'd say 48.5-49, that would make it a minute and a bit quicker than Howson which is probably the distance which should be between them.
