Dear Mr.Gadsden, I have listened to Kayleigh McEnany almost daily since she assumed her spokesperson role. She has posted a few things today about telling people to go home and stop participating in super events. This is strangely consistent..campaign TV ads showing Trump walking shoulder to shoulder with pristine uniformed military service officers..what stands out..like the old Sesame Street..one of these things doesn't belong, one of these things is different from the others..Trump wearing a mask. You have been consistent also, often talking of Antifa, and Black Lives Matter as non mask wearing criminal hooligans..that is cool. The messages today are tough for all..but the oscillations are dizziness defined..for the record, both sides have had far too many mass events held during moments of hysteria.. BLM marching screaming, sometimes maskless over issues like murder..you know little things like having your guts splattered on your apartment walls while you are in bed..the other side removing their masks to bellow Lee Greenwood lyrics or to sing along with an illegally used Stones or Bruce Springsteen song..
Have not seen any schedule for press conference times for the team elect..but consistent with the season and consistent with the utter disarray, collapse of government organisation..at a text book level..
I will get it down to a W.Virginia freshman terminology..Biden is not i in charge of anything. He has no health care plan, doesn't have a pandemic response team..those are still the job,the responsibilities of the sitting elected President.
The citizens marching in the streets under whatever silly sub-flag..maskless or not are the charges of the sitting elected President of the United States..if the President doesn't like what he sees it is his responsibility alone to demand or encourage people to act Covid appropriate. All these other unelected, unofficial, unknown, unorganized, militia multivitamin ,are not the President of anything..
Official press conferences are to be held by...officials..what Rev Al thinks about mask wearing or social distancing may have great value on Trumps scale but that is not how the government works..
If you see someone doing something, say something..Top down not bottom up.
Biden will probably have to chime in on turning it down, tone it down, because the guy who should be giving the message has a full diaper and is out cheating at golf..
The way people should and shouldn't act during the pandemic could have most effectively been disseminated from the top..not from the bottom or a bathrobe..tweeted in the middle of the night..
Day late dollar short..
but if you insist,Biden will probably still beat Don to the punch and air a national press conference encouraging people to act using best practices

So, we agree that they won't be mandatory. But, rest assured, the govt has the legal right to mandate vaccination. Compulsory vaccination for small pox was challenged and upheld by the supreme court. But this a case where you attract more flies with honey than vinegar. Vaccination will likely be incentivized in some way. I would give people money to get one.

If parents want to utilize public schools, they should consider the societal responsibility first and foremost. Same with intl travel as yaco noted. Freedom comes with tradeoffs sometimes. You can't be employed in health care without Hep B vaccination for instance.
I think we can all agree that science filtered through government bureaucracy knows what‘s best for all of us and consistently is at the forefront of great decision making.

Good points.

Well, dude, this is purely a political post and if I respond I’ll get banned again and you’ll get bored while I’m gone.

There is zero political about. Covid-19..yes the person telling Americans that it was under control, fake, not serious, not to wear masks, indeed that person does have a particular party affiliation, but the advice, the direction given to collectively combat Covid is crazy.
No matter what sex, race, ect a person is saying it is a good idea to conspicuously contaminate one another..is completely crazy.
The idea that ideology is a form of immunity to this virus is insane, those ideologues certifying it as fact are certified lunatics.
I am being careful to say it in a digestible way..the thought, and possibly the science that a sex, race or other group are much more susceptible and that those affected are unimportant or collateral damage is both disturbing and disgusting.
On face it would look like the American direction for Corona Virus is..
We know who gets sick, we should all get back to acting normal, lesson any personal discomfort economic disruption and a government sponsored garbage truck will pick up the dead waste.
There was never anything political about Covid in the US, there is an enormous ethical burden that has been entirely ignored.
We should cars about each other.
We as a nation are arguing about that primarily.
there are discussions world wide about Covid ethics, in the US it looks like we will get to let the world see our compass,if we have one ,when we get access to a vaccine. Who gets it first? Who has been determined to get head of the line privilege. All we can do is wait..and why is that? Because the government has done nothing it has promised, not sufficient PPE, lack of promised testing or tracing,
pretending, saying that everyday Americans have a health insurance plan where a helicopter picks them up on their front yard, flies them to a hospital were a team of doctors with an unlimited treatment budget, and first dibs on everything including experimental and stem cell drugs is preposterous not political.
Telling people to do the right, thing is prudent, not political.
No other country,no other leader has treated the citizens of their country with such contempt and disconnection, utter disregard.
Take these last ten days..the cases are soaring\ spiking \ rising \ increasing..any word you pick for more is fine..the response to increased hospitalization, death and diagnosis is golf? Again ,golf is not political, golf is also not medical and shows an obvious disconnect from reality.
Covid 19 is an issue of science, not political science..

I guess then it was a bad day to be out with thousands of your close friends celebrating, singing, dancing, screaming in joyous rapture today in DC.

Absolutely zero condemnation from the hyper-concerned. Which of course is tacit approval.

So now we can get on with our lives.. finally.
No, I don't approve, which is why I was not out there with them. Masks, outdoors, and low prevalence should limit the damage. But there is little sense in having mass gatherings at this time for any reason. And the epi people that I follow on social media were saying that too. I think we should all follow the same guidelines.

ETA. This is why we should be extra careful.

(Unnamed leader) can’t even model good behavior and consistently encourage (the largest percentage of North Americans) to wear a mask. Every time he takes the podium, he’s a threat to public health.

We are living through one the greatest failures of (a place on the map) leadership in our (place on the map’s) history.

COVID is over. With amazing speed too. Just spectacular news.

OMG, a statistical test known as Benford’s law is now being used to support allegations of fraud in the elections (to make this post on topic, I will add that it’s also been used to support allegations of false reporting of COVID-19 cases). Benford’s law, in a nutshell, says that when there are large numbers of datasets, spanning several orders of magnitude, the lower the first digit in each dataset, the more frequently it occurs. E.g., if you have hundreds of precincts reporting voting totals in some county, the vote totals that begin with 1—such as 11,12, or 13 votes, etc, 100,101, 102, etc., 1001, 1002, 1003, etc.—will occur much more often than totals beginning with 2, which will be more frequent than totals beginning with three, and so on. This is because the logarithms of the values are assumed to be randomly distributed, and the logarithms of lower digits span a larger number of values than logs of higher digits.

If Benford’s law is followed perfectly, about 30% of the totals will begin with the digit 1, and less than 5% with the digit 9, with other digits somewhere in between. This differs from an even distribution, which would be 11% of each.

Here is an analysis of Wisconsin in 2016, which concluded that the totals followed Benford’s law, so no irregularities:

In contrast, someone has analyzed voting totals in several states in the just concluded 2020 election, and claims there were irregularities—i.e., deviations from Benford’s law—in WI, IL and PA, but not in GA and FL:

https://github.com/cjph8914/2020_benfords

Does this mean anything? While Benford’s law is well-established, it doesn’t always apply to datasets that it’s supposed to, and some researchers have specifically argued that it isn’t a good indicator of voter fraud. It has been used for that purpose, though, and interestingly, in one case fraud was alleged because the vote totals were too perfect—they followed Benford’s law exactly, out to four decimal places, suggesting that someone was aware of this problem, and fudged the data so that they would appear legitimate.

But to return to the topic on hand, Benford analyses have suggested false reporting of C19 cases in Russia and Iran.

That's actually very positive news. More than 90% is huge. Regulators were hoping for 70% but willing to accept 50%. They're already producing the vaccine now, among others in a production facility here in Flanders, I've heard.

The timing is impeccable.

It is a great day for science. It is a great day for humanity when you realize your vaccine has 90% effectiveness. That’s overwhelming,” Bourla in interview with CNBC’s Meg Tirrell on “Squawk Box.” “You understand that the hopes of billions of people and millions of businesses and hundreds of governments that were felt on our shoulders, now... I think we can see light at the end of the tunnel.”

Good on Pfizer. Their stock is through the roof (as are global markets).

BioNTech and Pfizer’s late-stage study is continuing after the positive interim analysis, with hopes for it to be completed by the end of the month, Bourla said. The companies will need to apply for emergency use authorization with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

There are expected to be up to 50 million doses of the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine produced this year and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021. The vaccine requires two doses per person. In July, the companies reached a nearly $2 billion agreement with the U.S. government to supply 100 million doses.

“Given how effective this vaccine is, and we are aware that the demand will be much higher than anything we can produce, we are also looking right now to see if there are other ways, thinking out of the box, that we can increase even further the manufacturing capacity,” Bourla said.

Bourla noted the timing of Monday’s efficacy news, which comes as the U.S. has continued to set new records for daily cases and some European countries implemented partial lockdowns in response to surging infections. “There’s no time to be lost here,” he said.
Bourla also addressed questions about the timing of the announcement less than a week after the U.S. presidential election. The Pfizer CEO said the election was always an artificial deadline and the data was going to be ready when it was ready.

Yep.

There still needs to be additional safety data before a formal application is made, but that looks very promising. It should also be noted that Pfizer has not taken any Warp Speed money to date. Full credit should go to the company and their team of scientists. But, as good as that news is, the truth is that almost no one is going to be vaccinated in the next 2 months and that we should redouble our efforts to limit infections through well-established prevention strategies.

Second round of mass testing in Slovakia. In 45 out of 79 counties.

Tests 2 044 855
Positives 13 509

There are some aditional tests because some 200k people were tested in "green" counties.

In 45 counties number of positives dropped from 25k to 11k or from 1,47% to 0,62%. We are waiting how will be trend in PCR test. We had under 1000 today after quite a while. Positive rates still was 11,6 % though.

I am worried there is big rush to go to normality after this testing. Prime minister told we could do this once in a while this winter to flatten the courve.

Covid 19 is an issue of science, not political science..
Covid is an issue of politics as developments are occurring across the nation.

Cases are going up exponentially and ICU capacity is getting high in many parts of the country. However, depending if you reside in a "Red" or "Blue" state determines what actions and restrictions will be implemented, and what freedoms to a certain extent will be taken away.

I live in Leftist Colorado (a Democratic Trifecta...actually) where there's a mask mandate including having to wear one while working out in the gyms/fitness centers. Right now our positively rate is ~11%, which is causing tremendous panic among the dept of health officials, the govenor and elected officials in the Denver-metro. So much so, that in addition to a very restrictive level-3 ("Orange") alert, most of the metro area has now gone to a curfew (10:00 pm - 5:00 am). No non-essential businesses allowed to stay open, no travel allowed unless going to or from work, or emergencies, etc. This is now a police state with the both the govenor's & mayor's finger on the full lockdown trigger (as they both have threatened this action if cases don't come down).

Contrast that with South Dakota's ~23% positively rate and Republican governor Kristy Noem has no restrictions planned nor there is any mask mandate. Even in neighboring Oklahoma, where their positively rate is at ~15% and ICU capacity is filling up - there are no restrictions nor curfews, or any threats of a lockdown. (Though there is no state-wide mask mandate, OKC did implement a mask mandate recently). And don't forget that Republican govenor Stitt was even infected with the virus over the summer (mild symptoms), and despite this isn't panicking like the govenor here in Colorado. I could give more examples, but the message is clear that the "Blue" states will respond to rising cases with insidious lockdowns, restrictions, curfews - infringement on rights, while the Red states, for the most part, seem to respect personal freedom more than Dems and are less eager to rush to drocacian measures to handle case increases. So, if that doesn't show politics involved then people simply aren't paying attention.

Same with the mask mandates. All Dem states have state-wide mask mandates. All Republican states do not have mandates except seven states (AL, IN, AR, MT, OH, TX, WV). Interestingly, Kansas with a Democratic governor has a mask mandate. However, the heavily Republican-state legislators stripped the govenor of most of her emergency powers where 80% of the counties have now opted out of any mask mandate. Again - politics in action here with the Republicans wanting to restore some decision making back to the citizens (personal choice to wear a mask or not).

IMO, All this election has done is shown the polarization of this country. Biden was supposed to win in a record setting landslide because the Left had done nothing but spend an enormous amount of time & money trying to convince the American people that Trump and the Republicans had botched Covid and are responsible for all the deaths. Looking back at some of these Covid posts (as well as another Covid site I post on), if you weren't for the lockdowns, restrictions and mask mandates, you'd be accused of being a "Trump" lover and an evil person in society who doesn't care if poor "grandma" gets Covid and dies (fearmongering 101). Forgot the damage done from the psychological enslavement of people during the lockdowns, the financial ruining of businesses with some of these ridiculous restrictions now in place, the social impacts of curfews and restrictions on the number of people you can have in your household, the psychological impact of masking children in school where 60% of communication is done through facial expression for speech development, as well as these youngsters rebreathing in CO2 all day.

And as you can see 71 million people voted for Trump (more than the 62 million in 2016!) which means the majority of these people don't support these insidious lockdowns & restrictions, and mask mandates. So, let the division and conflict start. For one, Congress will never get anything done with a House held by Democrats and a Senate (presumably) held by the Republicans. McConnell & Pelosi hate each other with a passion - so how the heck would anything get done with the inflammatory hatred both parties have for each other?

I believe Biden will try his heavy hand with a National mask mandate and campaign govenors to consider vaccine mandates that will be met with resistance from the strong Red states. The states, with rising cases, controlled by the Left will no doubt start implementing hard lockdowns, strict enforcement of mask mandates, curfews and some strategy to obtain high vaccine compliance.

IMO, this is no longer the United States of America but the Divided States of America as the country tries to moves forward. It's basically the new Democratic-Socialist party vs the Republican party (Since I'm surrounded by the Left, I need to move to SD, or OK, or some place Red. Lol).

Where I live in Leftist Colorado I'm surrounded by registered Democrats - they hate the Republicans and love the new frontier of Biden/Harris. If you're a Democrat you're for lockdowns, restrictions, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, forced medical decisions, the giving up of rights and person freedoms. If you're a Republican or Libertarian, you're for no lockdowns or restrictions, optional mask wearing, vaccine choice, personal choices in medical issues and the honor & respect for the Bill of Rights.

Let the division begin; let the war of hate & conflict begin; welcome to the DIVIDED STATES OF AMERICA

And to show you an example of a Leftist governor who gets enamored in power & control, abusing his office with tyrannical abuse of the citizens - Newsom got called out to knock off his abuse of power! (you don't see this happening with Republican govenors!)

"Court Declares Gov. Newsom’s Abuse of Power Unconstitutional."

Not going to touch any of that bait, but I think the Dakotas are a cautionary tale. They are amongst the highest per capita for mortality right now with little sign that things are improving. That is especially noteworthy given that they are some of the least densely populated states in the US, so should have some inherent natural protection vis a vis other states like MD. Birx visited the Dakotas and said that mask usage was lower than anywhere else that she has visited. Just doing a few little things could make such a big difference, yet they continue to do practically nothing. I lived 7 years in a small South Dakota town in my youth, so it is personally disappointing to see what is happening there. I just don't understand people who look at the Dakotas and think that is the example that the whole country should emulate.
