Coronavirus: How dangerous a threat?

Page 237 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Wall Street journal had an article about travel to Mexico is on a steady increase because, although it's written down, no non essential travel restrictions are enforced. Some places like Los Cabos ( Cabo San Lucas) and Cancun are said to look normal, pre pandemic...?
All here should watch the news because if anyone tries to pull any shenanigans on me,like those silly folks at Dodger Stadium, we will all see what kind of force is needed to deploy my cars airbags.
Koronin, have not done the tour'd'burger all over NC, but Farm Burger in Ashville puts a delicious product on the plate..last time I was there stayed in a log cabin motel, which in my opinion, our country doesn't have enough of..
Also Covid has removed the joy of sushi..now even non grocery store sushi looks like grocery store sushi..sad..and as the virus has really really changed my eating and shopping, I knew all along that something wasn't fishy about Subways tuna..it's not tuna..yuck

As for Fauci, you need to watch less Tucker. Conspiracy theories like that will rot your brain.
Ha..ha...you're a real comedian. And the left-wing, liberial ideology of forced vaccinations, restricted medical decision making, lockdowns, permanent mask wearing, authoritative rule with unyielding power & control over people's lives has already rotted the brains of many mind-controlled sheep in this country!

Speaking of the autocrat:

And it's ridiculous that the pro-vaccine tyrants don't care about informed consent and choice either! I imagine with all the rhetoric of mandatory vaccination by the left-wingers & his majesty Fauci, anti-vaxx groups are getting a little irritated. In fact, the anti-vaxx movement against the Covid vaccine is gaining momentum globally:

Very good news. But how many of that 715k people were tested? 16 out of 317 in hospital is normal rate. I would be cautios. They have also lockdown so it can affect this results. I am concerned about their still very high numbers. I think this statement I liked most:

"One domestic healthcare provider, Maccabi Healthcare Services, released an encouraging smaller study on Thursday. It revealed that out of 163,000 Israelis given both shots, only 31 were infected, compared with nearly 6,500 infections among a control group of unvaccinated people. "

Governments all over the political spectrum all around the world have implemented things like lockdowns and mask wearing. There's nothing left-wing or liberal about those things. You should at least make a token effort to see beyond your nose in a global pandemic.

And to think, Vermont the most successful state in the USA in combatting COVID has a Republican Governor.

You should make a token effort to look at the governments of these other countries. You have Communist states like China, Loas, Vietnam & Cuba. There are strong socialist states such as India, South Korea, Portugal and some African & Arab nations. Europe is mainly a Social Democracy. None of the above have a Constitution & Bill of Rights. So, these countries won't think twice about harsh lockdowns, forced vaccination, strick mask mandates and whatever else the ruling class of those countries see fit to do (see the UK).

And you know there's a general pattern here in the States with the leftist governors pushing for harsher & longer lockdowns, stricter mask mandates & a direction toward mandating the vaccines. There are some exceptions I'll admit. For example, our govenor here in Colorado lifting the lockdown back on Jan 4 and pretty much opening everything up, with some restrictions. But Polis is a businessman who may actually care about small business owners.

Also, some of the Republican states are not going to mandate the Covid vaccine for children:

"COVID Vaccines Won't Be Mandatory for Tennessee School Children Says Governor, "Vaccines Are a Choice."

And this:

"Tennessee lawmakers introduce bill prohibiting authorities from forcing Covid vaccine."

"State Representative Bud Hulsey introduced House Bill 13 on Monday, Nov. 30."

"According to the proposed bill, authorities “shall not force, require, or coerce a person to receive an immunization or vaccination for COVID-19 against the person’s will.”

"As to why he proposed the bill, Hulsey told WVLT News: “Government always has a tendency to overreach and meddle and overcontrol.”

My kind of state government!

Find me a Democratic state that will not mandate the Covid vaccine for school children?

That is just pure BS. One of the first states to do the mask mandates back in April was MD and they are run by a Republican Gov. People should know that no state has mandated the vaccine for any population. You are dispensing misinformation left and right. The vaccine is not even recommended for school children below 16, so I don't get what the fear mongering is about re: schools.

So, again no data on older people?
France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Austria, Portugal, Belgium and Italy have already declared the vaccine should not be given at 55 or 65+ at this stage.

I'm also confused by the 55% vs. 76% numbers.

The Guardian:
The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has 76% efficacy against symptomatic infection for three months after a single dose, with efficacy improving when a second shot is given later, a new preprint study shows.

Oxford University said the findings supported a decision made by the UK to extend the interval between initial doses and booster doses of the shot to 12 weeks.

AstraZeneca has welcomed the move, saying flexibility to extend the time between doses is the best strategy for the shot.

The results, gathered from trials in Britain, Brazil and South Africa, indicated some protection was given after one shot and that immune responses were boosted with a longer interval to the second dose among participants aged 18 to 55 years.

“Vaccine efficacy after a single standard dose of vaccine from day 22 to day 90 post vaccination was 76%, and modelled analysis indicated that protection did not wane during this initial 3 month period,” Oxford academics said.

The paper said that vaccine efficacy was 82.4% with 12 or more weeks to the second dose, compared to 54.9% for those where the booster was given under 6 weeks after the first dose.

Whatever planet you're from, the education system seems in a bad shape.

This whole interview with Dr Lee Merritt on C19 vaccine is worthwhile. On how to better improve our immune system, skip ahead to 26:24 on the timeline (vits C and D , zinc, & couple other things). Dr. Merritt is associated with AFLDS.com (america's frontline doctors) and AAPSOnline.org (american association of physicians & surgeons).
She also is one of the biggest proponents of HCQ use for COVID, despite all the data to suggest that it doesn't work. The AAPS affiliation is really a red flag. Whenever she speaks about vaccines or infectious disease, it is clear that she is an orthopedic surgeon.

I still think AstraZeneca needs to either fully redo their phase 3 trial or hope nothing is messed up in their US trial. I still have too many questions and much of it is how their information came out that it was and appears to still be all over the place.

Here's an article with the information Jagartrott is talking about in his last post:

It appears this is a new trial. Basically the information appears to be saying that two doses is better, but in the case of this specific vaccine the second dose needs to be 3 months after the first one. (This is why we needed a second trial from them.)

Mod hat on:

Several posts are beginning (or have) strayed from discussing government policy on COVID to ascribing specific policy to assumed political ideology. We've allowed some political discussion in this thread but it's not going to become a surrogate thread for the old politics discussions that were closed. It's pure BS that you accuse me "dispensing misinformation." Take a look at what the superintendent of the 2nd largest public school district has to say:

"Los Angeles students required to get Covid-19 vaccine before returning to school."

"Austin Beutner, the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, said Monday that students will have to receive the inoculation once it's available before heading back into the classroom, according to a report."

"The Los Angeles Times reported that Beutner compared the move to how schools already require vaccinations for measles and mumps. He says he hopes all students in the system will be vaccinated by January 2022."

From the Blue state of New Mexico:

"Last Thursday, in Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s weekly COVID-19 briefing, she stated that she plans to make the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for nursing home residents, healthcare workers, educators, first responders, and corrections populations. She also seemed to imply that requiring the vaccine for school children was also under consideration."

More Fauci rhetoric:

"BIDEN HIS TIME Fauci says "mandatory school vaccinations" and "vaccine passports" are "on the table" when Biden takes over."

"Misinformation?" Lol

Whatever you want to claim now, you clearly suggested that states would mandate vaccines for children. I pointed out that no one has done that and the vaccines are not even approved for use in people 16 and under, which is the majority of the kids in school. California has traditionally had some of the laxest vaccine laws and policies and that is evident with the recent measles issues that they have had, especially around OC. The most strict states for vaccination are West Virginia and Mississippi. They are the only 2 that have no personal belief or religious exemptions for MMR. The narrative that you are trying to portray is just flat out not rooted in reality.

Re: New Mexico.
On the state's COVID-19 vaccine website, the health department says there are no plans to make COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for the public.
It has always been assumed that certain jobs would eventually require some vaccination as is standard in many professions already. Since I wrote that post, a county has mandated the vaccine for first responders. People who don't want it can go find another job instead of endangering others.

Re: Vaccine passports. As I have mentioned already. Those don't exist here. Vaccination currently does not allow you to travel out of the country and back with impunity, you still need to test negative to come back.

As for Fauci, you missed this quote from him.
It's not up to me to make a decision.
So...yes...misinformation.
