In the ultimate FU to the Australian selectors, Simon Katich has gone out and got himself a century in their FC match against WA at the SCG. 18 year-old Kurtis Patterson on FC debut scored 157 off 188 balls. Not bad at all.

Did a bit of scouring for Kurtis Patterson and found this -
http://www.cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/333/333341.html

He scores a hundred in a youth test at 3 and gets dropped to number 7 in the second

Here's his full Under age career

He's been decent in the underage matches so far.

Brian Vitori gets Gayle for a duck :D
3-0-8-1 in 2020, great and he's fast. Matebeleland, for whom Gayle plays, will still beat the Rocks.

I just hope Michael Beer doesn't get considered for the Indian Tests unless they want him to go the way of Beau Casson, Dan Cullen (remember him?) etc. with guys like Sehwag belting him 10 rows back all the time.

I remember, it must be back in about 2004 (Steve Waugh's final test series) and i think it was at the SCG and Sehweg came in got 195 in 2 sessions then got out after tea on day 1 of the test. I was in awe of that innings. I think India ended up with a mammoth total

I think it was in Melbourne where he got that 195. I also think he got out playing a six hit shot for his 200. It was a great great knock but in fairness to Australia, that was one of the weakest bowling attacks (no Warne, no McGrath and out of form Lee) during the heyday of Aussie cricket.

Ryder hit 16 sixes today, an FC record. Wow.

It should be pointed out that Allan Border Oval is not the biggest of grounds going around. I recently saw highlights of NSW opener Dan Smith club 185* in the Ryobi Cup match v Victoria at North Sydney Oval and some leg glances were getting hit for 6. Low full toss? Try out of the ground.

Thanks for the clarification, it seemed outrageous that he just clicks his fingers at 82* and gets 6 after 6.

Kyle Jarvis was tonked around the field yesterday, Mash Eagles lost again and comfortably as well.

Gillespie has been appointed coach of Yorkshire.

Yes, that I figured. Though Michael Beer didn't get soft treatment himself. Still a bit scary for Australia that a team with two of their first test bowlers had to resort Cowan in the end.

The thing I don't trust about the NZ team is that could rip through Australia but fail to finish off the job. Peter Siddle is one of those annoying tail enders that can hang in there and get runs, I'm going to tip that he will get at least one half century in this series.

On another matter, I was disappointed that Tasmania chose not to play Jackson Bird yesterday in their Ryobi Cup game against Victoria at the MCG, moreso that I could finally see him bowl and see what speeds that he gets. Crazy to think that Dave Hussey will never play Tests, I'm sure a few countries (New Zealand, West Indies) would have taken him if Australia didn't want him.

If Cutting doesn't play and Starc/Pattinson do, then Siddle would bat at Johnson's usual spot and that's a fairly substantial tail that Australia will have. There's a chance NZ could do well in the first test in that regard.

Didn't watch the Ryobi cup yesterday but in the end Tasmania had a pretty decent recovery to lose by only 74 runs. Just saw that there was a 96 run partnership for the ninth wicket.

I think tomorrow will be a win the toss and bowl first day. It's rather humid right now (has been for the past week) and it looks like it will rain hard later this afternoon.

forecast for tomorrow?
WI should've beaten India yesterday, the grasped defeat from a victorious position.

Gayle scored a century for Matebeleland yesterday and they scored 171/1 in 20 overs. Brendan Taylor for the Mid West Rhinos responded with 75 not out along with Gary Ballance, who scored 67 not out to beat Matebeleland by 7 wickets. :D

I can only speak for the Gold Coast as that's where I live, but it's only an hour down the M1 from Brisbane, but the forecast is 'for a high of 27 with late thunder and a 90% chance of rain'. I would look to bowl first.

Swing likely then. That will be interesting, Kevin Mitchell produces some of the better pitches in Australia but last year he went over conservative with the pitch and it turned out to be a pretty dull match. Hope he rectifies that.

WA is very inexperienced at first glance, Behrendorff, Bancroft, Harris and Beaton. How long are Voges and North out for?

Talk about an injury crisis. Have you heard of any news on who's replacing Mickey Arthur for WA?

Lachlan Stevens for the rest of the season. Was the assistant coach under Arthur

Lachlan Stevens who used to play for Queensland. The one rule change I like in the Ryobi Cup is the rule that the latest you can take the batting PP is from overs 36-40, instead of from 46-50 like you used to see.

On another note, I'm amazed that Nathan Rimmington hasn't played for Australia in ODI or T20, he's pretty under-rated for mine, and is very handy with the bat.
