Australia will probably end up about 100 runs short here, unless Clarke scores a double century or something.

A lot of pessimism on these forums, especially from the so-called Aussie fans :(

The score has gone up on each innings and there does not seem to be as much swing. Mr Swann was taking a good look at those rough patches on the wicket.

Swann is the only problem in our plans.

If you're an optimist then you'll just jinx things! :p

Not a bad start. Still, 227 needed, long way to go.

Another dubious decision goes the favour of the Poms

Yes. I thought it had to be at least half the ball hitting the stump. That was a bout a quarter. Anyway I knew Watson would be first to go. Cowan is looking nervous, waving the bat at wide balls.

No, to overturn a not out lbw half the ball has to be hittng but if it is given out it just has to be hitting.

Okay my mistake. Rogers has looked pretty good. Hope Clarke can do something. Unless Agar backs up ! ;)

This Sri-lankan umpire can go and get ****ed

Dharmasena is one of the worst umpires in the world. When England toured India, he was absolutely awful. No idea why he hasn't been bumped from the Elite panel.

Only 4 non Aus/Eng elite umpires so limited for choice.

Edit: It is only them that can do test matches right?

Aleem Dar used to be one of the best around, but he's declined a lot recently. Not so long ago, there were so many top notch umpires around, like Taufel and Koertzen, but they've all retired. Taufel should come back, he's only in his early 40s.

Oh lol, somebody's been editing his wiki profile :D

Yeah has to be neutral umpires. Taufel was good. Wonder what happened to him but of course he's an Aussie.

To be honest, I thought the same. But seeing the review and the ball actually hitting a quarter of the leg stump instead, only leads me to conclude that it was yet another dubious decision in favour of the poms.

And Billy Bowden gets his marching orders instead? At least with Billy you knew he gave a full account of himself giving the benefit of the doubt to the batsmen when adjudicating Lbs ...

No Koertzen was never top notch. I rated Bucknor at first but I lost faith in him towards the end of his career. Taufel was good, but **** I really can't think of anyone else

Root comes on to bowl - 'time for a root?' haha :D

Cowan just isn't cut out for any position other than opener. He's far too limited to play in the middle order, or at 3. He's lost his discipline- the only attribute that made him worth having- this match, getting out playing drives at unnecessary moments on both occasions. Perhaps he should be dropped for the next test. Let him try and get back his sole useful ability in the practice matches.

Surely Khawaja could not do worse.

He was poking around from the first ball. Out of form.

There is absolutely no excuse in my view for his lack of form - if ever there was a pitch that resembles the Nottingham track it is Bellerive Oval.

He's done well to nearly accumulate 20 tests I think it is considering what he has gone through in his career moving from state to state to find more stability in his first class career prospects but it is time for him to go home, play exclusively for Tasmania and never again play for his country.
