After picking Turbo for the win yesterday I am going to stick with the OGE boys for another win today and they have a few options. Gerrans and Howard both had a great prologue yesterday and Simon Clarke is in very good form after Norway.

Howard wasn't too far behind Sagan in California and considering that he is just coming back off his track program he will be a big contender here if he can keep up over the hills.

Clarke...if EBH is being touted as a contender then surely Clarke must as well. He went head to head with EBH in Norway, losing narrowly to him in their head to head sprint.
and
Gerrans. Great prologue and I am sure he will form a 1/2 combo with Howard today, like he did with Goss at MSR.

Much of this depends on what they plan to do with Durbridge and the yellow jersey but I am going for a Howard or Gerrans win.

I guess "narrowly" is relative, but EBH won that sprint by 8 bike lengths or so and Clarke kept losing ground even in Edvald's slipstream (you can see the sprint here, helicopter shots of the sprint start at 7:03).

velochrono also says that just before the last km there is a 200 m ramp@8%.
definitely a stage for the puncheurs.

If Duque's in form he may be a dangerous outsider.

his sprint sucks harder every year. he should get out of cofidis. he has become a typical money rider now.

Not too shabby as first day breaks go. Teams of Matthews, Degenkolb represented. Somebody might have to break sweat to bring it back (it's nice just to have the illusion of a race)

EBH certainly deserved the win, better tactical, sat/slipstreamed on Clarke and jumped him beautifully, not sure about the "losing ground even in (EBH's) slipstream"as by the time Clarke got upspeed EBH was 5-7 lengths ahead, is that a 'slipstream'?

Hardly a great breakaway, I have only heard of Vanmarcke.
