Yeah, it's a steep climb tomorrow. So with Tony's kilograms he is actually more favorite then on a less steep climb right?

Tony going for yellow tomorrow:D:D

Martin, tucked in safely near the front, finished 24th (+59"). He lost no time in the GC, remaining in 2nd, 38" back from Wiggins. The team will look to the 166km Stage 6 on Saturday to potentially go for the yellow jersey.

Sylvain Chavanel, who was in the top 10 in the GC going into the stage, was in difficulty on the HC Grand Colombier. The climb was 17.4km, with a 7.1% average gradient. It also was 12% in sections, with a max ramp of 16 percent.

See the result

http://www.omegapharma-quickstep.co...-du-dauphin-stage-5-martin-plays-it-smart/628

So Tony finished in the 40 man peloton, outclimbing the pure mountain goat, Sylvain Chavanel. Indeed he might well dispatch Wiggins on the Joux Plane tomorrow.

Anyone want to do a thread? I lost my map and profile files and I CBF.

edit - ah right it's a team press release. I thought you were pointing to Chavanel as an example of a GC guy whom Tony is better at climbing than. Apologies.

Bold prediction. Dekker could very well top 15 tomorrow. I don't see Tony doing the same on Joux Plane :)

I won't see anyway, I'm gone this weekend ;-)

Let's see. Will be an intersting battle :)

Just one thing. If a break away group makes it to the finish. They don't count ok? Only thise who start the Joux Plan together with Tony.

If you think Evans and Nibbles are descenders of note you really do need to watch the Spartacus video. Also look up the legend that is Salvoldelli - falcon by name falcon by nature and the only person who has actually won a GT through descending skillz.

Savoldelli himself has stated a numbers of time that Nibali is a descender of note.

Congrats to Vichot. Poor Saxo with no win.

I liked the attack on the descent but the climb was too far from the finish.

What happened to Chavanel?

I find it amazing how partisan this forum is. To even discuss wether Nibali is a good descender or not and how good he is compared to others and how good he is on certain descents etc etc etc. Nibali is a fantastic descender end if story.!!!

I also find the general comments frim people, mainly the veteran bloggers, just wholly negative. Boring course, he won't win, he is ****, how bad was he in
This race or that. Jesus what is wrong with you guys.

I was attracted to the sport because it was not partisan but this forum is heading that way. :( crap!

slightly better than his brother at the giro

The schlecks are such easy targets. How many attacks like Andys last year are you going to see?

Oh right yeh I got it. This forum doesn't like winners . I remember the amount if **** Cadel got before he won it. Thank god I'll be in Paris when Wiggins rolls in in yellow !!!

JvdB doesn't finish in the bus in Pais Vasco. He at least finishes decently. He was also 4th in Catalunya
I'm pleasantly surprised by Van den Broeck's season so far. 4th in Algarve, 3rd in Catalonia, 12th in Basque Country, 10th in Flèche Wallonne. But actually, compared to his past results, they are only slightly better than 2011 and 2010. He's no Andy.

yep that 1 attack won him the tour

My point is that Andy does have the ******** to attack which makes an exciting race. Yes he is like a wet lettuce at times but in my opinion the amount of **** he gets on this forum is unjustified.

Anyway, how does that make sense. So this forum doesn't like winners, but Cuddles got huge amounts of **** before he won, but not after?

Agreed, JVDB I's no Andy and his TT makes him serious. JVDB reminds me more of Gesink who is a possible TDF winner in a more suitable year.

Apologies dlwmmoronic

How about you watch a stage before deciding if someone descends like a Schleck?

A novel idea perhaps, but worth a try.

If you think Evans and Nibbles are descenders of note you really do need to watch the Spartacus video. Also look up the legend that is Salvoldelli - falcon by name falcon by nature and the only person who has actually won a GT through descending skillz.

At some point you ll realise talk of wiggos bad descending is just forum BS and stop repeating it without checking stuff out for yourself.

Also see devious frenchy excuse above (although I'd pay more attention to the 'mistake' admission ie they weren't paying attention)

Are you stupid or blind?
Was I ever comparing evans and nibali's descending skills to the likes of spartacus and salvoldelli.
Sure maybe they are not at their level but they are great descenders.
They have showed time and time again.
Nibali showed it in the giro 2010 and 2011.
Did you see Cadel on stage 16 of the tour last year, yeah the one wiggins crashed out. Were you even following the race after that?
Yeah wiggins might not be a totally bad descender,
but if you compare it to evans and nibali descending he isn't at their level.

I see what your saying. Just to put it into simple terms. Before Cadel won last year. With the exception of our antipodean brothers, Cadel was disregarded as someone who will not win the tour and is generally ****. Then he won the tour. Andy was and still is given so much **** on this forum it's unbelieveable. Wiggins is clear favourite this year yet the forum suddenly hate him or at least hate his supporters.

Crazy. And it is the veteran bloggers of this forum that are the most naive.:)

Before you spill your coffee - love to see the footage of Wiggins on stage 16 last year. I'll pay you £145634688 for it ;)

Sorry but you posters who have suddenly jumped out in this month or so are the most irritating and naive, talking crap about wiggins.
Yeah maybe we hate the supporters because they talk so much **** about wiggins.
Before the tour its true cadel was not expected to win a GT.
But no way the forum thought he was ****, everyone knew he was a great rider, but just not good enough for a GT.

So you're saying Wiggins is as much of a "clear favourite to win" this year, as Cadel was last year? OK, I can live with that.

Someone like Hesjedal never got any hate before, during, or after he won this year's Giro, you know
