I was just thinking of the favourites so it's badly worded. Someone will definitely try and get away.

Thanks for the link.

As for the second statement, someone NOT going to the tour might try something

Wow. I hope they improved the surface a bit since this video was filmed, it looked sketchy.

Apologies dlwmmoronic

How about you watch a stage before deciding if someone descends like a Schleck?

A novel idea perhaps, but worth a try.

If you think Evans and Nibbles are descenders of note you really do need to watch the Spartacus video. Also look up the legend that is Salvoldelli - falcon by name falcon by nature and the only person who has actually won a GT through descending skillz.

At some point you ll realise talk of wiggos bad descending is just forum BS and stop repeating it without checking stuff out for yourself.

Also see devious frenchy excuse above (although I'd pay more attention to the 'mistake' admission ie they weren't paying attention)

Schleck even finished behind Chavanel who was dropped early on the Colombier and finished with the 9 minute group

Sounded like he climbed pretty well. But that he took it way easy on the decents.

Savoldelli :D

Never seen the guy live in action (didn't follow cycling back then.)

But I watched his video's countless times... great stuff.

Vanendert is almost a clone of Andy. Just look at his results pre-ardennes. He was like 30 minutes behind in Pais Vasco.

Vanendert is the Belgian Andy

Without the whining though which makes a huge difference.

I think it would have been safer for you to post your comment above after tomorrow's stage, Wiggo's descending skills may prove you wrong. ;)

We all know what Cancellara can do. He's very smooth. Did you watch MSR this year? If you didn't, guess who was behind him? Too bad that you're misinformed about Evans and Nibali's descending skills.

You even say as much in your signature: Nibali's descending is based on balls. Cancellara's descending is based on skill.

Anyone know whats up with Quintana?

QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander 158 MOVISTAR TEAM 4h 51' 20" + 09' 03"
He was on the Wiggins group until he had a puncture on the last climb. After that, he took it easy to the finish and saved his legs for tomorrow, because he don't care about GC this time. His goal for this race i think it's tomorrow stage.

Yet another poster influenced by Ryo's comments. Too bad you can't still read between the lines

Not at all. It's simply true, everyone can see Nibali's technique isn't as polished as Savoldelli back in the day or Cancellara in this era. Nibali really descends on balls. He often needs to correct and even had some serious mishaps in the downhill but just barely stays on his bike. Cancellara is much more fluent

I guess 'everyone' means you, Ryo and Youngest. Sorry, I don't see it that way. Nobody's arguing about Cancellara's ability, the point was Wiggo's descending skills. Did I hit a nerve there?

How could you hit a nerve there? If you read back the topic you'll see I'm the one saying Wiggins descending skills aren't good and could be a real problem.

Maybe I hit your nerve by saying Nibali's descending technique isn't exactly fluent. It doesn't have to be, he still gets there fast. But it doesn't look technically correct as with good descenders like Cancellara.
Just watch and compare...

The reason I said that it's because you're siding with Wiggo, in fact you voted he'll win the Tour. Glad to hear you agree his descending is not the best.

Re: Cancellara, I've said before he's smoother (if you read back the topic). ;)

What a race today. Totally unexpected looking at the parcours. Could have been a TV break and a peloton group ride, instead the riders delivered a bit of a show. Chapeau.

Tony going for yellow tomorrow:D:D

Martin, tucked in safely near the front, finished 24th (+59"). He lost no time in the GC, remaining in 2nd, 38" back from Wiggins. The team will look to the 166km Stage 6 on Saturday to potentially go for the yellow jersey.

Sylvain Chavanel, who was in the top 10 in the GC going into the stage, was in difficulty on the HC Grand Colombier. The climb was 17.4km, with a 7.1% average gradient. It also was 12% in sections, with a max ramp of 16 percent.

See the result
