Nah, he got the trust of his team to build up for the Tour. You're not going to peak for the Dauphiné then. It's really not that big of a deal as some people seem to think. The Dauphiné I mean. If his team needed the WT points I would agree with you, but they're doing good in that department.

That said, he shouldn't be THIS bad that close the the Tour.
I hope he enjoys his top 25.

Damn I missed the stage was busy.
Sounds exciting!
So what happened?

You should have stopped right there.
There has been enough cr*p flying around to fill the TDF publicity caravan,
without you wading in with more myopic madness.
Far too early for you to peak, in anycase.
Wait until ACF and that female version of you pair turns up in July.

It was a pretty fair stage given the route. Much better than expected, but ultimately stymied by the last 25km run in.
Well animated there, but far too animated here.

IMO: Fanboy central for all nationalities.
So best if everybody play nice and just keep putting the boot into Andy.
He's fair game for all.

I'm a Brit and follow some of the Sky guys but I agree with most of you on here that this Wiggo mania is insufferable. Yes he has been riding well so far this year but he's so much up his own a*** and believes his own press that I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't crack under the pressure of expectation come the TDF and some of the things he comes out with in press conferences smack a lot of Wiggo circa 2010. Having said that I think Sky as a team are looking strong.

I'm heavily disappointed by Quintana in this race. But maybe he is past his peak as he was already good early march and early may. And this race is too hard coming off a small break.
He was in the main group but punctured with 20km to go, according to Movistar website.

It's about learning what his limits are. It's also important to learn from your errors. How can you learn from your mistakes if you're afraid of taking risks?

Knowing what his limits are, is much more important than a stage win in the Dauphiné.

Martin was struggling at the back of the group on most of the images I've seen when it went uphill. He was just barely hanging on.

He tweeted today saying that he'd never really realised how much time he spends out of the saddle until, suddenly, now that his back is injured he can't get out of the saddle at all. He seemed pretty sanguine about it, saying that it's good training.

For the benefit of dwlmoronic

Some educational videos

Good descending:

Bad descending:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O5d94P6JGo

Watch them until you get the idea, then you'll realise there was nothing in either category today.

This digger/pom sky/Evans drivel is getting tiresome.

If you wanna insult my name, have the brain to get the first three letters right at least:rolleyes:

Whats the bloody point of showing me this videos. These are just two extremes.
Evans and Nibali gapped wiggins very well on the descent.
It just showed that they were better descenders and you know it.
Well tomorrow will tell, but I'm just afraid they will ride conservatively or the descent won't be technical enough.

Anyone know what happened to Vanendert? Has he been eyeballing Andy?
Vanendert seems to be a carbon copy of Andy Schleck. Huge difference between peak and base form, only good in Ardennes and Tour.

"There was a bit of bluffing going on from some of the local guys as we approached the top of the Colombier, which caught us out a bit, but that was about it. They warned us that it was a dangerous descent but then went full gas and caused the bunch to split.

"Cadel and three of his guys managed to stay in that group and it was a bit of an error on our part. We rallied though and the team did an amazing job to close things down.

"Once we’d got them in sight I was feeling good so I finished the job off to ease some of the pressure on the rest of the boys. There were no problems in the end and it was a straightforward finish."
That is brilliant. :D Cunning frenchies!

Vanendert is almost a clone of Andy. Just look at his results pre-ardennes. He was like 30 minutes behind in Pais Vasco.

Vanendert is the Belgian Andy

Well said DLWSsonic, don't let yourself be dumbed down by these yahoos. Indeed, the question is will Nibali or/and Evans try anything on Joux-Plane? I hope so, it'd be a good practice for the Tour.

Taking the only worthwhile part of your post.
I gather you are unfamiliar with the Joux Plane. (probably before your time)
It is both difficulty to climb and technical to descend.
I have had a quick look for a vid of Virenque and Heras, in the 2000 TDF, but all I found was Armstrong's suffering. Sorry.

Joux Plane Descent

I'd be surprised if anyone really goes for it. Just not worth the risk with the tour just round the corner.
