JVDB, he is the only rider who'll try and is good enough to win.

Evans might try for a bit, but won't push through because of the Tour.
JVDB meanwhile will be on a less tight leash, and can actually win it.
All of this makes for a Dauphine that Wiggins won without expending much energy, because the big cannons didn't race enough with the Tour in sight. ---> Leads to the possibility of him winning TDF and Dauphine in one year (although I still doubt that he'll win the TDF)

From what i remember the descent is quite technical and would really benefit someone who knows it well, not sure who that would be though

Break is very strong. Hope that would mean that Sky will ride good tempo which will bring some fireworks later in the stage.

Schleck is now back with the bunch. What about Vinokourov? He is pretty much awful

Yuri Trofimov oughtta know the climb and descent well, he won here back in 2008. Perhaps a repeat win from a break?

I'm not too sure yet. He's trained less in the mountains and more on his TT bike, and he's trained less intensively than last year. So i don't know how good he'll be in the real mountains yet.

Big day for the KoM classification with Sarmiento, Kadri and Moncoutie all there. Sarmiento won the first clim to extend his lead over Kadri to 9 points with Moncoutie close behind in third. Some big points to be won along the way today

More like Roland Garros finals (according to the France 3 commentator anyway, if you can trust anything that guy says).

Yes its because of Tennis

Dan Martin on twitter:

On way to 10am start cos 2 woman are hitting a ball to each other this afternoon. Maybe we ride real slow, delay the tv coverage?

Back in 2008 there was some action on final climb and the stage wasn't long or difficult. Very possible that today it can be very interesting

I seriously hope they ride like that, well not going to happen because of strong breakaway

He's in the break alright, just the different end of the peleton.

That part was the biggest gamble. I'm not, surprised, nor do i think is any one else. He does seem to be hanging with Vino lots, Schlecks to Astana?

IIRC, Evans, Valverde, Leipheimer, Gesink and Zubeldia were together on the climb, and most of the (small) gaps were created in the descent. If we have a repeat of that year, this stage will weed out the terrible climbers (Tony Martin et al.), but won't make a big difference between the top GC-men.

Of course wiggins will just hit the jets on the climb and dust everyone:D
I'd only be half surprised...

Joux Plane has to be one of the hardest climbs in France (remember 2006 when they were all glued to the road - Flandis' killer attack had gotten everyone tired of course) but it's never too steep like Angliru where we saw that Wiggo's style didn't work too well (in the saddle and odd gearing due to oval front plateau).
