I also have a question. What the hell is Côte de Garçin on the stage to l'Alpe? Is it just the regular first rampe on the Lautaret road? The maps are too zoomed out, and i couldn't find a google maps route for this stage. If yes, then... what the hell is Garçin? I couldn't find any such place called like that nearby.

I think it´s the first rampe on the usual road out of Le Clapier on the D1091 road before le Freney Oisans.
if they took the side road, the timetable would show the D220 and its crossing with the D1091. look on google maps

ps. wtf I could not spot any crossroad in the Dolomites, but with the Alps and Pyrenees I remember all of them.

Sky's mountain train isn't that strong. No Henao, Nieve, Landa, Poels and/or Thomas.

Could it be crucial for the race? Maybe we will see BMC up front. Porte needs a hard race.

A slower tempo might suit Martin, Contador, Valverde and Bardet.

TT is always good for him but it could be too early in the race as he probably needs some time to ride himself into the race rhythm.

König's problem was that he got knee pain when he did intervalls, he could always do long rides at lower intensity, so it's not like he wasn't training at all.

Sky roaster doesn't indicate froome is willing to win the dauphine so badly this year, given a really demanding course. Porte, Contador and Valverde have quite crappy teams as well. hopefully it will make the race wide open.

Actually BMC have a pretty solid squad around Porte in this race

Agree 100% - It's a squad that provided the necessary support in the mountains, but more importantly gives him strong support on the flat - It's the flat where Porte needs support.

I think (hope) BMC will have GVA, Dennis, Schar & Oss for the Tour and for the flat/rolling stages...and none are here with Porte ...it is correct he needs support on the descents and flat

I believe Kung and GVA are definites - That should be enough support along with 2 flt riders and 3 climbers.

Valverde was there in 2015. Honestly I don't think it means much at all, it is just another of his phrases in his usual "everyone but me will win" interview.

Pretty much, apart from the Vuelta in 2012.

Good to get some proper racing back, not watched cycling in an entire week now!

Downhill finish is equally exciting, and it's probably better for the audience to place it downtown.

No doubt. It was just my inner self wanting to know as fast as possible who's in better climbing form from the GC riders.

With a cat. 3 finish you wouldn't see anything, but an uphill sprint with Valverde, Alaphilippe etc. But i do admit, that i prefer the 2014 formula more with an MTF/mountain stage early and late in the race separated by a 35-45km ITT.

I think this Dauphine route is great overall. One of the better 1 week race routes.
