What if van Aert won GC? With the long TT, it seems not that far-fetched. I'm not convinced Roglic is back to his best form (as in peak 2020-21 form).

So the almighty Wout wins again. The best climber among sprinters, the best sprinter among climbers, the best time trialist among non-Gannas etc. Not sure he had enough support from his domestiques though (included one rebelled Slovenian).

I know the field is weak, but some of the 50 odd climbers better than Van Aert are right there at the Dauphine.

Groenewegen is fat (or beefed up to his eyeballs like a UFC wrestler).

I haven't really been keeping up with his races since he left TJV, but my God, what a ridiculous sight seeing him explode on a 3rd cat climb & wobbling his massive fat frame up the hill.

In his condition, a sleeping policeman aka speed bump might as well be a categorized climb.

Yes, go ahead & extrapolate my personal character based on... 3 lines of text about a bike racer's competence (or lack thereof).

It's sport. BikeExchange made a huge tactical error today when they paced to keep the breakaway within reach & then their sprinter got dropped like a stone on an insignificant bump.

He's not fit to race these sorts of profiles. There's no miracle in sport, i.e. he's just not cut out for that sort of racing & yes, it's obvious just by looking at him.

His team should know this already & stop blowing their own riders up whilst playing "let's pretend Groenewegen isn't too big".

He also beat Vingegaard, Hirt, Meintjes, Padun and Caruso.

Groenewegen's legs alone weigh more than most grimpeurs. He seems to be listed at 1,78 and 70 kg. No way is he less than 80 kg. (If he's really 70 kg at 1.78-1.8 M then he should be making it over that 5% gradient climb easily)

To be fair, it was hot and humid; maybe on a cooler day he survives the climb. They were within 32 seconds at one point but just couldn't close the gap...

I was really impressed by Wout and Jumbo. BEX and Ineos did 99 percent of the work for them and got nothing to show for it.
