36 years old and somehow looked the least experienced rider out there.

Doubey hardly made a pull over the last 20K. The other three cooperated well.

Thomas was by a large mile the fastest and stronger of them and Schonberger is probably faster than Bakelants as well.

He had to take the gamble and try to make Thomas nervous. Almost worked as he was 100m shy of the win.

Post race interview. The interesting part is at 3:39. After the breakaway had already been established, Pierre Rolland apparently attacked whilst Roglic was on an early natural break, so WvA went with him (Rolland of course, not Rog) to nullify the movement.

Rolland just wanted the mountain points though. I bet Rolland was p*ssed off (pun intended eh) when that happened.

Been watching road racing for 39 years. Just thought that was the most pathetic win since Bruyneel sucked Indurain's wheel for 22km in '95. Jumbo did not deserve that win. With the talent they have in their team they just sat on the wheels and let Ineos do ALL the work then sprinted the last 1/2 a K. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Loved Van Aert yesterday in the TT - what an athlete but his team's performance today was just a disgrace to cycling. Makes the sport a laughing stock.
I wish i had your e-mail so i could tell you what i really think.

Sounds pretty smart to me.

Congratulations to Wout van Aert for taking the stage win in a thrilling finale.

Those 60 kilo GC guys chasing down a breakaway. Priceless. Laporte great lead out. Smart thing for JV to let BE and Ineos do some chasing and dropping. Some beautiful scenery today. Nice little race we have here.

Cycling is more than just two GC oriented cyclist to go mano-a-mano for a split second. You don't have to be drunk to see that. Maybe just a bit numb if you don't. A stage hasn't go by for something interesting not to happen. As for the GC. It's still on the schedule for the weekend. Nothing wrong with that.

At Giro Hindley didn't even pull for himself. Still Giro delivered in the end. Here we got some notable second places, celebrations, wins, GC sprinting trains, Top Ganna ... And after tomorrow i am rather sure that mountains will deliver too.

to each their own.

giro "delivered" for 5 minutes on the second-to-last day. no exploits. no nothing.

exploits and fantastic rides (often even in TTs), that is what the history of cycling is built upon. that is what people remember.

Okay so some of the finishes have been surprising but it's hardly an inspired course for the Dauphine. I guess you could say the same about the Giro.

the course is not bad.

its the uninspired riders.

give me pog, ala, vdp and remco and we know there would be some attacks, racing, exploits or at least some dramatic crash-and-burn when they fail in the attempt.
